It was a girls' night out – plus dad – for Britney Spears Friday. Spears, in a black dress and sun-kissed blonde hair, told PEOPLE she's doing "good" at designer pal Christian Audigier's 50th birthday party at L.A.'s Petersen Automotive Museum. Spears, 26, hung with two girlfriends in a roped-off VIP area at Audigier's blowout gala. Fergie, Snoop Dogg, Pamela Anderson and – surprise! – Michael Jackson also made appearances. Jamie Spears joined his daughter, sitting on a couch about five feet away with his head resting on his hands. Spears stayed about an hour and a half, smoking cigarettes on an outside patio, nodding her head to a live performance from Macy Gray, and abstaining from alcohol. When she left for the evening, her father joined her."I am friends with Britney," Audigier told PEOPLE before the party. "She was at my office, I believe, three weeks ago. She got some presents for Jamie-Lynn and herself too. She got a ton of T-shirts, a ton of caps. She loved it." Spears left the party before Jackson, clad in a shiny blue shirt, came onstage to wish Audigier happy birthday. Jamie Spears' full-time job is now working for his daughter as conservator of her estate, court papers show. The pop star returned home from a Costa Rican vacation at Mel Gibson's house earlier this week.

Britney Spears caused a bit of a shakeup this week during a trip to a Bally's Total Fitness in Culver City, Calif., when the club accidentally double-booked the same excercise room for both her and a regular scheduled fitness class.An eyewitness tells OK! that the singer's trainer booked a room for her at 7 p.m. PT, not realizing that another class was already scheduled to start in the same room at 7:30.When Bally members showed up for the class, they were told it had been cancelled because Britney was using the room for her private session. This started a frenzy at the otherwise low-key fitness club. Getting back to her regular Los Angeles routine following a recent Costa Rican getaway to Mel Gibson’s place, Britney Spears was spotted out for a bit of shopping at Lisa Kline on Wednesday (May 21).
The recovering pop tart scooped up a few items at the Robertson Boulevard boutique before hitting the back exit with her handlers nearby.
Meanwhile, in other Britney related new, it has been confirmed by producers J.R. Rotem and Sean Garrett that Spears is back in the recording studio working with them on some new tracks.

Producer: Britney Is 'Really Shaping Up'

Britney Spears is back in the recording studio with J.R. Rotem and Sean Garrett, the producers confirm to PEOPLE. "She's great," Rotem told PEOPLE at the BMI Pop Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. "She's like a master at what she does. She's a lot more experienced than most people. She just has the 'it' factor that not every artist has. So it's always nice to work with her." Although Rotem, who briefly dated Spears in 2007, would not reveal any details of the project, a Spears family source tells PEOPLE that the pop star is in the early stages of a follow-up to her last album Blackout, which was released last October. "Britney is in the experimental stages of a new album," says the source. "She's trying to find the sound and direction she wants to go in, but nothing is set in stone just yet. She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses 'just singing.'" Producer Sean Garrett was mum on specifics but says that he and Spears, 26, have "a few things in the works." At the BMI Pop Awards, Garrett told PEOPLE: "I'm just happy to see her back and recovering. She's really shaping up and getting her whole situation back together. Britney Spears is in secret negotiations to stage a major comeback spectacular in Las Vegas, according to reports.
The pop star was spotted dining with Palms Hotel & Casino owner George Maloof Jr. in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, fueling speculation her next show will be a Sin City extravaganza.
Insiders claim the dinner at Il Sole was a business affair.
Maloof Jr. and Spears have been friends for years, and the pop star's ex-husband Kevin Federline and her father Jamie have both had business dealings with the casino boss in the past.
According to the new issue of the National Enquirer, Spears is planning a "multi-million dollar stage production she hopes will jump-start her career."
A source tells the tabloid, "She wants to make a splashy comeback in Las Vegas. She wants the show to be full of high energy and flashy costume changes."
Spears is reportedly in negotiations to perform a string of shows for an estimated $10 million.

Dad Working for Britney Spears Full Time

Britney Spears's father Jamie quit his catering job to dedicate himself full-time to overseeing the pop star's affairs, court papers show. As a result, Jamie Spears was given $10,000 in back pay to cover the first month of his co-conservatorship of her estate, which started Feb. 1, according to the documents. He was awarded a $2,500 weekly salary beginning in March. "The responsibilities he has assumed as conservator ... have required [his] full-time attention," says the request for "replacement compensation." "As a result, he has been unable to continue to his prior employment and he has lost his source of income which he needs to pay his living expenses." Spears' five-day Costa Rican getaway with actor Mel Gibson has ended.
On Tuesday, hollywoodtv.com posted footage of the singer, 26, arriving at California's Burbank Glendale Pasadena Airport.
Spears was all smiles during her trip, which she also took with father (and co-conservator) Jamie.
Gibson — Spears' former Malibu neighbor who has helped people with sobriety issues — hosted the Spears clan at his $25.8 million, 402-acre ranch on the Pacific coast since last week.
During the vacation, Spears went body surfing. On Saturday, she was photographed zipping around the beach on an ATV, snapping shots of her dad relaxing in a lounge chair.

The two are scheduled to meet face-to-face in a private conference this week to hammer out the logistics of their custody agreement. Commissioner Gordon has said that if the two can't come to an agreement, he will set a trial date for sometime in August or September.

Britney Spears Apologizes for Behavior

Britney Spears has reportedly apologized to her family for her erratic behavior that has left her under the conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears. Sources say the pop star’s mom Lynne Spears advised her to apologize for her actions.
“Britney was awkward and upset at first, but on her mom Lynne’s advice she took the initiative and gave a speech about how sorry she felt about her wayward behavior in recent months,” says a source. “She said, ‘I’m sorry to have put you through so much. I’m strong deep down and I think the whole thing has made me even stronger. I think now I’m on the right track to being a better mother and a better person, someone you and my boys can be proud of.’”

Spears, 26, recently gained more visitation time with her sons. The boys are currently in full custody of their father Kevin Federline.

Britney Spears is set to go head to head with Whitney Houston in the Christmas album charts after impressing label bosses with demos from recent studio work.
Spears’ last album, Blackout, received a lukewarm response; and bosses at her record company feared the troubled singer had blown it.
But now, the 26-year-old is being lined-up to “thrash” pop’s ultimate fallen diva with a new album which is reportedly due for release later this year.
A source said: “Britney has been on fire in the studio of late.
“During recording sessions for the last album she was consumed by her chaotic private life.
“But she is determined to make a triumphant comeback. Top brass have been amazed by the quality of tracks they’ve heard.

"I had such a great experience the last time I was on the show that I couldn't wait to come back," she said. "I was really looking forward to working with this cast and crew again. Everyone was so nice. Abby is going to have a lot of fun!"

Troubled Britney Spears is reportedly planning to buy a $5.96 million mansion in Encino, Los Angeles.
The ‘Toxic’ singer — whose visitation rights to her two sons was recently extended — viewed the 7,300 sq ft, five-bedroom, six-bathroom property on Wednesday.
The mansion — which is a stone’s throw away from her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s house in Tarzana — boasts vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, fountains, a spiral staircase, a Jacuzzi, a swimming pool with a spa, an indoor and outdoor dining room, a wine cellar, a family room and a designer kitchen complete with state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances.
Britney was recently criticized after she allegedly trashed the $35,000-a-month mansion she rented in Malibu, California.
It was claimed Britney never lived in the mansion, but held parties there, which resulted in massive damage.
A source said: “The house was left a wreck. Cigarette burns and cigarette butts were everywhere - and empty bottles of wine were strewed about the place.
“Most of the furniture was ruined with stains, tears or nicks. Rotting food was left in the refrigerator. Spilled wine soiled the carpets and floors. No one picked up after Britney’s dogs, and many ‘presents’ of dog poop were left behind for the owners.”
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Britney has indulged in a series of steamy phone conversations with Kevin Federline.
Britney reportedly called Kevin at 2 a.m, chatted brifely about their sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 20 months before the tone of the conversation soon changed.
“They have phone sex often — at least once a week,” an insider tells Star magazine. “The one thing those two have in common is their need for sex, and after they get going, there are no holds barred.”

The rehabilitation of Britney Spears continues as the singer and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday with the result being that she is allowed more time with their two young sons. “Kevin loves Britney and he loves his children,” his spokesperson tells In Touch. “I believe he would love to see a situation where the children have the benefit of a mommy and a daddy raising them. I’ve seen him (Kevin) with his children. The love is genuine.” Meanwhile, with the exact details of the change in visitation still sealed, Kevin’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan described the modification as “a cautious step — a step nonetheless. The children are great. We’re going to take it one step at a time.” Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, who accompanied her to court, said in a statement: “We are so pleased with Britney’s progress and we’re very appreciative of the court’s recognition of this progress.” She has been seeing the boys, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden, 19 months, but without any overnight visitation rights. Despite today’s decision, Kevin still retains full custody. Britney, 26, wearing a brown polka dot dress and white shawl, arrived at Los Angeles Superior Court for the first time in several months with her powerhouse attorneys Blair Berk and Stacy Phillips. Previous trips to court by Britney have turned into a circus, with her turning tail and leaving after a few minutes. This time, however, an insider reveals to In Touch that she is “calmer and in control.”

April 28 was just another day in Britney Spears’ healthy new life. The star, who has recently swapped fast-food runs for daily workouts, hit her regular Bally Total Fitness facility in Studio City, Calif., for an hour-long Spinning class. After the session, Britney stopped to chat with Life & Style. “I’m always happy when I’m done,” she said, before offering some one-on-one insight into her favorite cardio workout — hitting the dance floor. “To me, dancing doesn’t even feel like exercise,” Britney, 26, continued. “I love it.”The gym isn’t the only place where Britney’s getting serious. The former junk-food addict is shaping up in the kitchen, too. “Her eating habits were so bad, and she ate so sporadically, doctors suggested her dad do everything he could to get Britney to eat three times a day,” says a family insider. Britney’s dad, Jamie, has taken the advice one step further and has put Britney on a healthy diet. Some of Brit’s motivation is fueled by wanting to fit into her old clothes, but she’s really focused on regaining her physique to revitalize her career— and benefit her little boys. Says the family insider, “Britney wants to be healthier for Sean Preston and Jayden James,” who are living with their dad, Kevin Federline, full time. “Almost everything she does brings her one step closer to getting her boys back.”

Inside Jamie Lynns Baby Shower

Having relocated to Kentwood for the duration of her pregnancy, Jamie Lynn Spears has been staying away from the press lately - until now!
OK! Magazine spoke to the pregnant teen queen about last weekend's baby shower recently, and Jamie Lynn was only too happy to talk about her gifts, her condition - and, of course, her big sister!
"It was wonderful to be able to spend time with [Britney] and just be girls again," Jamie Lynn said when asked about spending last weekend with her big sister. "We painted our nails and did stupid stuff, and we had our private time too. To be able to be in the privacy of our own home and just be sisters again was wonderful." Of course, the Spears sisters also found some time for a heart-to-heart about motherhood, with Britney stressing to Jamie Lynn that "there are going to be some long nights - but it is completely worth it."
Of course, "privacy" is a relative term - especially when you're in a house with twenty other guests! "There were about 20 or 30 people [at the shower] - to me, it was pretty big," Spears said. "My mom put it all together for me. There were mainly people her age so that way they could get me all the important stuff I need. The people my age, like Sarah and Leah, got me the cute stuff."
And what kind of cute stuff might she have received? "I got adorable clothes," she replied. "I registered for all the necessities. There is a certain type of bottle I use, Dr. Brown's Bottles. You need your travel set and your sling. I got a wonderful sling yesterday. It is adorable, and it will put a baby right to sleep."
Wow, it really sounds like Jamie Lynn's maturing into her new role as a mother! Of course, as she herself admits, she's still got a long way to go - heck, she hasn't even picked out a name yet!
"We want it to be something special," Spears told the mag. "That's something we haven't figured out yet, but I'm thinking hard. I'm working on it. No one has given me any suggestions. I wish they would!"
