Britney's Comeback Plans

Gone are the pink wigs, ratty hair and fake british accent the world has come to associate with Britney Spears. In their place, a fresh faced, natural brunette who has been reporting to work, making regular visits with her sons and seems in general, to be focused on taking her life back.On March 24, the once reigning pop star made a highly anticipated cameo appearance on the CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. Her performance was so good, she managed to wow not only the audience, but her co-stars as well."The only thing scandalous about this is how un-scandalous it all is," says HIMYM co-star, Josh Radnor, of Britney's appearance on the show.Playing Abby, the nerdy receptionist, the bit part is just one of the baby steps the singer seems bent on taking to get back in fighting form. As she begins to rediscover herself, she seems to also be rediscovering her love for dance. In addition to teaching kids at Millennium Dance Complex, the singer has been rehearsing alone, stopping in for two hours at a time to learn a chair routine for her new song, Hot as Ice. Sources say Britney may even want to open her own dance studio in the future and is considering The Dome, a 25oo sq. foot section of Millennium, currently closed.Even Brit's father, Jamie Spears, seems to be loosening up on his rules---a bit."Britney is addicted to driving," An insider tells OK!. "Initially, her father wouldn't let her drive at all, but he knows how much she loves it and it calms her, so he's softened the restriction. He now lets her toodle around the block in her gated community."

Fabolous Gives Britney Spears' Musical Comeback A Helping Hand

Hip-hop star Fabolous is helping Britney Spears get her pop career back on track - he's recorded a song for her forthcoming album. The Trade It All rapper was recently called into the studio to record his part of the song, but admits he was a little disappointed when he found out Spears wasn't going to be attending the session herself.
He tells MTV.com, "I didn't get to kick it with (Spears), but the people from her record label was on top of that..."
And after all her personal troubles at the start of 2008, Fabolous hopes she will soon be back to her best: "I don't know what condition Britney is in right now. Hopefully - more power to her - she'll get in a better space and position. Somebody needs to sit her down, let her know what the deal is."
Spears has since returned to work for the first time since her mental breakdowns in January - on Monday she was spotted at Hollywood's Alleycat Recording Studio, the same day her cameo appearance on How I Met Your Mother aired on CBS to glowing reviews.

Review of Britney Spears’s Comeback Role

The audience understood from the get-go that Britney Spears’s cameo role on Monday night’s How I Met Your Mother was more about damage control than acting.
Her challenge was clear: Demonstrate that, even though she seems in recent months to have been traveling through life on the roaring, ragged edge of a tornado, she could still stop and stand still long enough to perform on camera, be as naturally charming as the role permitted, and let the audience conclude: “Well, she SEEMS all right. She seems like Britney.”
And she did all that in the space of a few mild comic moments. At least she balanced out that weird MTV awards appearance last fall where she looked like a Bond girl who’d come out of a coma.
Her part on the CBS sitcom wasn’t as cartoonishly flamboyant as her 2006 appearance on Will & Grace, as Amber-Louise, the Southern conservative co-host of a gay talk show. This time she played Abby, a humdrum receptionist in the office of a dermatologist.
In fact, the very first shot of the half-hour was of Britney at her receptionist’s desk, staring off like some girl in a Vermeer painting, or perhaps more precisely like Scarlett Johansson in a movie about Vermeer.
Frankly, I would have made the entire half-hour an ingenious stunt: Everything was happening IN THE HEAD of this sad, dreamy girl. But that was not the plot: Ted (Josh Radnor), undergoing a series of laser treatments to remove a tattoo, had a crush on the dermatologist doing the zapping (Scrubs’s Sarah Chalke), but the doctor kept resisting his efforts at flirtation.
The receptionist, meanwhile, developed a crush on Ted.
The script didn’t make much of this potential triangle. Britney mostly smiled with a sort of likable, hopeful pathos (except for one brief moment, when she handed the doctor a file with a bluntness that seemed inexplicably hostile).
Well, what’s wrong with likable, hopeful pathos? Plenty of celebrities would kill for even that.
But her best scene came at the very end: Abby, letting herself be seduced by the ridiculously rakish Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), unexpectedly and enthusiastically upped the ante. It was a sort of fantasy validation: This loser secretary, who tried to find herself reading self-help books, was transformed into a fun girl with thoughts only of uncomplicatedly naughty good times.
As she bolted from the office with Harris, it was as if Britney were rushing out to meet her former self. – Tom Gliatto

X17 XCLUSIVE - Britney's Back In The Studio and Back At Dominic's

Britney was back to work at Alley Cat Recording Studio today (we spotted her there last year before she headed out on her House of Blues tour) -- what is the Queen B doing there???
Come on, Brit, we're dying to know! Are you preparing for an upcoming performance? For another single? For another album?
And how'd Brit unwind after a hard day at work? Dinner at one of her favorite restaurants, Dominic's.
X17online was there exclusively as Brit entered with her bodyguard and assistant. Our source inside the restaurant tells us Britney enjoyed shrimp cocktail and red wine. She was sitting with her assistant at the table and at one point during the meal, someone came to the table and brought a stack of papers to Brit. Another script, perhaps?!
Cheers to getting back to work, Brit! Will Britney be able to get back into the spotlight and get healthy at the same time?

Review Of Britney on "How I met you mother"

NEW YORK — Britney the Trainwreck has shown she can still be Britney the Performer.Britney Spears made her much-hyped guest appearance Monday night's "How I Met Your Mother," submerging her tumultuous personal life and portraying a sweet-natured receptionist, Abby, with a crush on unlucky-in-love Ted (Josh Radnor). The 26-year-old pop star, who previously was on a 2006 episode of "Will and Grace," appeared fresh-faced and relaxed, capably filling the small role.Of course, she's made news in recent months not for being Britney the Performer but for her split with ex-husband Kevin Federline in late 2006, their subseqent custody battle, Spears' bizarre behaviour and two hospitalizations.Spears' cameo on the CBS sitcom may mark the beginnings of a more successful comeback attempt than last September's MTV Video Music Awards. She remains under the conservatorship of her father, James. On Monday's episode, Ted only has eyes for Abby's boss Stella (Sarah Chalke), a dermatologist.Ted's goal: to win a date by his 10th session with Stella.Nothing's working. Finally, he figures the receptionist is his way in.So he brings Abby coffee in a bid to impress Stella but it charms Abby even more.During one visit, Abby trails him and Stella into an office to deliver a book - a self-help tome called "The Power of Me" - that he left behind in the waiting room.

Judge Rejects Challenge to Control Britney Spears

Britney Spears's father, Jamie Spears, will remain in charge of his daughter's life after a California Court of Appeal judge on Monday threw out a plea by an attorney on her behalf to challenge the elder Spears's co-conservatorship. The dismissal by Justice Roger Boren was based on the court's having no jurisdiction to grant an appeal, reports the Associated Press. Although one event had nothing to do with the other, the decision came on the same day that the pop star took a major step in reviving her career by appearing on the CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. On March 11, attorney, Jon Eardley, who claimed to represent the pop star, filed the appeal to challenge Jamie Spears's role. Eardley has not been available for comment since Boren's decision. On Feb. 14 Eardley filed a civil-rights challenge to the conservatorship, leaving the case in limbo for nearly two weeks – until a federal judge declined to hear it. Jamie Spears was named co-conservator of his daughter's estate on Feb. 1 following her second hospitalization in a psychiatric facility, when it was determined she was unable to care for herself. His control is in effect until July 31. In addition to a $58,800 payment to the conservatorship for attorney fees and other costs, Jamie was given weekly payments of $2,500 and the authority to tap his daughter's funds to lease a car for her security team. The pop star also cannot leave California before a scheduled April 7 hearing without permission from the court or from her father.
