Brit's Conservators Smell Lutfi!

Lawyers for Britney Spears' conservatorship filed papers yesterday in federal court, asking the court to reject the bid to remove the case from the California Court system. In the papers, the lawyers claim Britney was in no position to even hire a lawyer for the federal case because she's not allowed to under the conservatorship order. Attorney Jon Eardley, who filed the federal case, claims Britney hired him.Lawyers for the conservator also want Eardley to identify everyone with whom he worked to get the federal case filed. It's real clear the conservators believe Sam Lutfi who is behind it, hand he's been restrained from having any contact with Brit. The conservators' lawyers also want Eardley to pay attorney's fees, claiming the federal file is kinda frivolous.

K-Fed: Britney Needs to See the Kids!

K-Fed must be tired of being a full time daddy because he's really fighting for his ex wifey Britney Spears to get visitation. Yesterday both camps were back in court but the judge didn't make any changes to the custody battle. After the hearing, Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan insisted his client wants to see the situation resolved as the children need their mother. He says, "Both sides want to see the day that visitation can resume. It is a question of working out details on how that can happen. Mr. Federline looks forward to his children having their mum in their life." Kaplan adds Federline "is doing everything that he can to make up for the fact that the boys are with him and keeping family around and trying to have them not aware that there's any change whatsoever. He's doing great at being a parent."

Another Day, Another Hearing for Britney

There was another hearing today in L.A. in the case related to Britney Spears August hit-and-run accident. Britney's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, asked Judge T.K. Herman for a continuance because the pop star is under a conservatorship and "isn't qualified at this time to enter into a legally binding matter."
The judge granted a continuance until March 20 and said it would be the last continuance, but added that he realized the 26-year-old needed to be judged legally competent before the case could proceed. The hit and run charges against Britney were previously dismissed, but she still faces a charge of driving without a license.

Brit's Family and K-Fed Want Her to See Her Sons

Britney Spears isn't just spending her days shopping: She's calling ex Kevin Federline.
A source close to the Spears family tells PageSix.com that the 26-year-old singer has been in touch with K-Fed in the hopes of making an arrangement to see their sons. And despite yesterday's court ruling, both Kevin and her family are willing to work to make it happen.
"Besides getting her the ongoing medical care she needs, [dad] Jamie's sole focus is for her to regain some visitation rights to see her boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James," another source tells us.
The goal once again makes the Spears family and Kevin unlikely allies. While Kevin makes sure to talk about Britney with the boys whenever he can, Britney's family has been working so hard to find a solution for her troubles, they've brought in backup, via brother Bryan.
Despite being on Brit's side, our source says Kevin's not ready to give up primary custody: "Kevin has gotten so close to the boys that he can't hardly fathom them being put back into Britney's care. He fears for them and their future, but also fears for Britney if she does not get control and start seeing them again."
A source tells us that should Jamie Spears succeed and convince Commissioner Scott Gordon to grant visitation, safeguards would be put in place, including Papa Spears being present while Brit spends time with her sons.
The common cause will only be aided by new attorney Stacy Phillips, a Spears family insider explains. "Stacy will not exploit this sensitive situation for attention, and like the other conservatorship lawyers already in place, will take the high road and act with integrity."

TMZ Photogs Busted in Britney Sweep

The cops have cracked down bigtime on paparazzi -- no, not the ones who blow red lights. Not the ones who run cars off the road. Not the ones who threaten to kill people who get in their way. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department is going after ... sidewalk violators!!!By our count, six camerapeople were busted last night; two outside the salon where Brit was getting her hair done and four outside Villa nightclub where Lindsay was partying. Two TMZ photogs were among those busted. One deputy is heard warning paps, "You're slowing down, you're stopping on my sidewalk." When asked what law the photogs were violating, a deputy cited West Hollywood Municipal Code, Section 3.04.030, the Traffic Safety Fund. That section funnels traffic violation money to bankroll traffic lights and other stuff. One TMZ photog says he had just stepped off the sidewalk when he was cuffed and thrown into the back of a squad car for an hour. Another TMZ photog was hauled off to jail for 6 hours.

Britney Suffering From Memory Loss?

Could Britney Spears be suffering from memory loss? This past weekend Spears and her dad Jamie hit up The Social restaurant in Hollywood for some late night grub. Sources tell Hollyscoop EXCLUSIVELY that Britney seemed a little dazed and confused while at the restaurant. She hardly touched her food and she went to the bathroom "every 15 minutes." She spent most of the night chain-smoking near the bar. Our spies overheard Spears asking the general manager of the restaurant "how long they had been open" and "what was upstairs." She complimented the manager on the restaurant and told him she thought it was beautiful inside. The manager, who was clearly confused by her comments, politely replied, "Thank You." The Social is the same place Britney shot her music video "Piece of Me" back in November of '07. Spears was more than 12 hours late to the shoot but was eventually driven there by douchbag Sam Lutfi. She arrived in her pajamas at 8:35PM and stayed until 6:30AM. Sadly Britney has no recollection of ever being at the venue. She spent more than 9 hours 'upstairs' shooting her music video but doesn't recall ever being there. Obviously all the drugs that Lutfi admitted giving Spears took a toll on her memory. I wonder if she even recalls half the things she's done while under Lutfi's control?

Lawyer: Dad Helping Britney's Bid for Visitation

What will it take for Britney Spears to regain visitation rights with her two sons? That remains to be seen. But the pop star's tentative reconciliation with her father, Jamie, is a step in the right direction, says Kevin Federline's lawyer. In fact, attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan was full of praise for the elder Spears, who has emerged as a controversial force in Britney's life recently – and who was front-and-center at Tuesday's family court hearing. "Jamie Spears's presence is an extreme positive," Kaplan told PEOPLE, adding that the patriarch's continued presence could make it possible "to develop a visitation plan that enables these children to have a mother in their lives." While Britney's visitation with children Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, was discussed at Tuesday's hearing, there was no official legal progress on the matter. (Spears has not seen her sons since her Jan. 3 standoff with police.) Still, Kaplan said, "[Jamie] brings that day closer. Absolutely." Jamie's role as temporary co-conservator – overseeing Britney's wellbeing and estimated $100-million fortune – has attracted its share of criticism. His own daughter is apparently seeking legal remedies to regain control and, in a recent interview with PEOPLE, attorney Jon Eardley claimed that Jamie's conservatorship was a "violation of [the singer's] civil rights." Kaplan, however, sees Jamie's control as a "huge step." "He's building from the ground up," the attorney explained. "[He's] stabilizing the situation, removing people that may not have had [Britney's] best interests at heart." Does that mean Britney could see her kids again in the near future? "We all want this as soon as possible," said Kaplan. "That's Kevin's desire – to have his kids visiting their mother. That's everyone's goal in this case."

It's Like 'Groundhog Day'

No, you aren't reading a post from the weekend, or last month, or last year. This is, in fact, Britney Spears, stepping out of a car and once again flashing the world her lady business last night. Ironically, the pop star was headed into B2V Salon when she flashed her bare necessities. The style-free songstress, 26, was getting her extensions tended to, much like a farmer doing crop rotation, at the salon co-owned by her longtime colorist, Kim Vo.

Brit Keeps Toys Ready for the Boys

Even though Britney Spears was just denied in her bid to get some form of visitation with her sons, as TMZ reported yesterday, she's still hanging on to hope, no matter how slender it might be."[Brit] hasn't put the children's belongings away," says "an insider" to Us. "She desperately wants the kids. She cries about it." Apparently, K-Fed and even Brit's parents won't let the momwreck talk to the kids on the phone. As for J.J. and Sean, it seems that the K-Daddy, their grandparents, and nanny don't talk to them about Mama Brit. "They don't want to get them riled up. They just keep them focused on activities."

Britney Has Had ZERO Contact With Her Kids

Despite rumors that they have been speaking, Britney Spears has not been in touch with her boys since January 3rd. Sadly.
Kevin Federline and Spears' parents won't let Britney speak on the phone to her sons, Us Weekly is reporting.
However, that will hopefully change soon.
K-Fed's lawyer has nothing but praise for Britney's dad, who is acting as her conservator.
"Jamie Spears's presence is an extreme positive," Mark Vincent Kaplan tells People. "He's building from the ground up. [He's] stabilizing the situation, removing people that may not have had [Britney's] best interests at heart."

Such A Small World

Those pesky paparazzi!
Photogs snapped Britney Spears through the shades as she had a day of beauty on Tuesday.
The recovering pop star was getting her hair did at our salon of all places.
Maybe we'll run into her next time we're there!

Britney Spears Gets a New Attorney – Again

Once again, Britney Spears has a new lawyer: High-profile attorney Stacy D. Phillips became the latest to sign on for the custody case. Phillips, who was approved by a court commissioner Tuesday, replaced Sorrell Trope, who quit after complaining of problems communicating with the troubled pop star.A Columbia University law grad, Phillips represented Bobby Brown in his divorce from Whitney Houston, and Tori Spellling's ex, Charlie Shahnaian. She's also a frequent legal analyst in magazines and on television. She also authored Divorce: It's All About Control, once explaining that, "I've yet to handle a divorce where control was not an issue or at issue." Phillips becomes Spears's fourth lawyer in her ongoing battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Her first attorney, Laura Wasser, resigned from her case last September shortly after Spears's divorce from Federline was finalized. Spears then hired the firm Freid & Goldsman, but their relationship ended within days, before retaining Trope, who sought to leave the case, come back, then filed papers again to depart, this time for good.

Brit's Lawyer Says Her License Case is Stalled

Britney Spears' lawyer Michael Flanagan tells PageSix.com that her driving without a California license case cannot move forward as long as she is deemed "mentally incompetent."
Flanagan plans to say as much to the judge at tomorrow morning's hearing in Van Nuys, Calif.
He tells us he "hasn't been in contact with Britney due to her current medical situation." While he would settle for an infraction (i.e., violation) on behalf of Britney in this case, "making any other decisions at this point isn't possible, because Commissioner Goetz [the judge in Brit's conservatorship case] has ruled that she isn't mentally competent."

No Visitation…For Now

The lawyers weren't able to work things out during lunch.
Britney won't be able to see her kids any time soon, sadly.
"Both sides want to see the day that visitation can resume, K-Fed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told the press. "It is a question of working out details on how that can happen. Mr. Federline looks forward to his children having their mom in their life."
There is talk of sending Spears to a live-in treatment facility for her bipolar disorder. Hopefully that will happen!

Britney Still Can't See the Kids

At today's custody hearing regarding Britney Spears and the custody of her two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, the commissioner once again ruled that Britney is not allowed to see her children and that the current custody agreement remains in effect.
Britney, 26, is still allowed to speak with the kids over the phone. The other news from the hearing is that the firm of Trope and Trope, which had tried to be released from representing Britney last month, was finally excused from the proceedings, to be replaced by Stacey Phillips.
Commissioner Scott Gordon also ruled regarding the motion filed by lawyer Jon Eardley last week in which he asked that Britney's conservatorship and custody hearing be moved to federal court. The commissioner said that the motion has no bearing on the custody case.

Brit Doesn't Get Visitation

The lawyers couldn't agree amongst themselves -- so Brit will not get visitation with Sean Preston and Jayden James. There is no change in the custody order. Also, the Commish made it clear - the issues with the conservatorship being removed to Federal court have no bearing on the custody case. Also, Trope and Trope is out as Brit's lawyer. Stacy Phillips is now the new lawyer on the case. It's ironic, we know K-Daddy wants Brit to have visitation and the lawyers came to court today trying to accommodate that, but it didn't happen. Daddy Jamie also has wanted to create some normalcy in Brit's life and wanted visitation restored in a bad way, but it wasn't meant to be.

UPDATE: We hear they're going to work through lunch to try to hammer out an agreement and they'll all be back in court at 1:30 PM PT.

Britney Update

There was another hearing this morning for the ongoing custody battle between Britney Spears and ex-hubby, Kevin Federline. Though both parties were not present, Brit’s dad, his co-conservator and Brit’s Trope & Trope lawyer, Ann Kiley, were present. There probably be won’t be any changes in the custody today, but Kevin Federline has been voicing his wish to have Britney back in their sons’ lives. It’s been seven weeks since Britney saw her boys, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden Jaymes, 1. Britney’s been doing very well lately, so hopefully as she gets better, her custody issues will also follow suit. One day at a time, right?

Britney Could See Youngins Soon

TMZ has learned lawyers at today's custody hearing are hashing out a plan so Britney can see her babies again. But there's a snag. We're told both sides are in agreement -- Britney should get visitation rights in a therapeutic setting. But sources say the lawyers are meeting right now and can't agree on the terms. We know K-Fed wants Brit to have visitation back. In all probability, a psychiatrist will supervise visitation. TMZ has reported that people involved in the conservatorship would also like to find a private facility where Brit can receive treatment for her bipolar disorder.Brit hasn't seen her kids for a month and a half. Will the attorneys reach an agreement today? Stay tuned ...

The Spears Dine on Lobster and Tobacco

Must've been just like old times back in Kentwood: TMZ spies say that Britney Spears just couldn't stay still the other night at Citrus at Social, going to the restroom "a lot" and seeming bored out of her mind, while her daddy Jamie worked over a big piece of chaw. The night didn't start so well for Brit -- we're told that the paps tore off her jacket when she got to the joint, and that even though she was with her daddy and a couple other guests, she kept getting up from the table, leaving her lobster burger untouched. She did, however, eat "a lot" of the cheesecake and the Kit Kat Bar dessert, a specialty of the house.

Gag Me with a Lawyer

Brit's soon-to-be-gone lawyer Anne Kiley just asked Commish Scott Gordon to gag the lawyers and others connected with the custody battle from speaking to the media about the case. K-Daddy's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, objected to the gag request, stating that it was a violation of free speech. Kaplan said Kiley has accused him of leaking like a sieve. Kaplan also cited a conversation he had with Kiley that ended up on TMZ while the conversation was still taking place -- i.e., he's not leaking if he's still talking. In the end, the Commish denied the gag motion. The hearing is now behind closed doors.

Britney's Latest Vadge of Honor

Britney -- and her kitten -- re-appeared last night at Sushi House Unico in Los Angeles. The conservatorship does not, apparently, require undergarments!Britney is officially back.

K-Fed to Brit - Take the Kiddies for a While

Sources tell TMZ Kevin Federline would like Britney to see her kids, even during the conservatorship. We're told K-Fed has no prob allowing the kids to visit Brit at her home, with one string attached - that Brit's parents are present during the visits. We hear K-Fed isn't worried that anything bad would happen to the kids, his biggest concern is that Britney might drive with them, but Jamie would be there to put the kibosh on that.Sources also say K-Fed doesn't want custody 100% of the time - it's just too much. He'd like Britney to share custody or at least visitation. And we're hearing there's talk Britney could go to a private facility for treatment and K-Fed would have no problem allowing the kids to visit her there, just as they did when Brit was at Promises. We're told there was a plan weeks ago to get Brit to an out-of-state facility but that didn't work out. Finding a private treatment facility is a priority, however, the powers of the conservators are limited and it just ain't that easy.

New Lawyer in Brit Custody Case

TMZ has learned attorney Stacy Phillips will take the reigns in Britney's custody case - well, kinda sorta.Sources say Phillips, who has repped Bobby Brown and Tori Spelling's ex, will represent the conservatorship, which is making decisions in the custody case. We're told Jamie Spears has signed off on Phillips, so the way is clear for Trope and Trope to leave the case. But there's a catch. We're told Commish Scott Gordon wants assurance that Brit will be protected with a lawyer SHE personally chooses when the conservatorship ends. Phillips is in court right now and there will be big developments today.

The Players All Lining Up for Brit's Court Date

TMZ is in court as the major players in Britney Spears' conservatorship and custody cases are all lining up to speak their mind at today's hearing.K-Daddy's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, as well as Jamie Spears and his attorneys have all arrived in court. One new player has shown up too-- powerhouse lawyer Stacy Phillips. She previously represented singer Bobby Brown in his divorce from Whitney Houston. The buzz is she's next in line to take on Britney as a client in her custody battle.

Britney Screws Sharon Stone

Surly Sharon Stone and her adorable adopted son Roan were trying to enjoy a quiet dinner together last night -- when Britney came and f-ed it all up!Stone was eating at Mulholland Grill, located inconveniently next to Sushi House Unico, where Brit showed up and brought her pap-tourage with her. Sharon didn't look too pleased with the sudden cam-assault -- or with herself, when she scraped the bumper of her car backing out of her parking space!

The Brit is Back

Spears was caught in a snapstorm outside of Sushi House Unico last night -- where her accent slipped into that cringe-inducing Kentish Town-meets-Kentwood clip as she yammered at her bodyguard, who was escorting her to a waiting lorry SUV.At least she looked better than a steaming plate of haggis.

New Brit Custody Hearing on Tap

With another date looming Tuesday morning in Britney Spears' seemingly unending court docket, her supposed team is ramping up the rhetoric.
At 8:30 a.m., Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon will convene the latest closed-door session in the ongoing custody case between Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Among the orders of business: Just exactly who will represent Spears, now that the firm of Trope and Trope has bailed on the case. Laura Wasser, who was Spears' previous counsel in the case, is expected to be back, but Gordon must sign off on the move first.
Gordon is also scheduled to review the infamous paparazzi footage of Spears running a red light with her children and a court-appointed monitor in the car, a source familiar with the case tells E! News.
The 26-year-old "Gimme More" warbler, who hasn't seen sons Sean Preston and Jayden James since Jan. 3, is not expected to be present.
Meanwhile, although the next scheduled hearing in Spears' conservatorship case isn't scheduled until Mar. 10, the man who hopes to be her lawyer is lashing out at the court's ruling placing her father Jamie, and a lawyer in charge of her affairs.
"The conservatorship is radically oppressive and unnecessary," says attorney Jon Eardley, who joined the fray last week at the urging of Spears' former manager and confidant Sam Lutfi.
Eardley, who admits to not having met Speats, filed a petition to move the conservatorship to federal court, claiming that the erstwhile Mouseketeer's civil rights were being violated.
Legal experts have told E! News that the chances of the case being transferred are slim and the move appears to be more of a publicity stunt.
"In Britney's case, the commissioner revoked her power to retain her own legal counsel," Kevin Whittaker, a San Francisco-based litigation attorney, who's not involved in the Spears case, told E! News last week. "Oftentimes, the conservatee can retain their own legal counsel. This wasn't the case with Britney. So the new attorney's claim to be her legal counsel will be found invalid."
Spears, who has been, in the words of her parents, in the "throes of a mental health crisis," has yet to make any public comments about her supposed new legal eagles.
Nonetheless, Eardley, through spokesman Michael Sands, continues to bang the drum.
Sands tells E! News that while Spears and Eardley haven't met, they have had spoken "Several times" over the last week. The spokesman says Spears instructed Eardley to do "whatever is necessary" to get her father's "sham conservatorship" rescinded.
"When your civil rights are violated, it is no laughing matter," says Sands.
Sands also happens to rep Lutfi, who remains largely out of sight (Paris Hilton parties, notwithstanding) after being targeted by a restraining order by Spears' family.
"Sam is doing real good," says Sands, adding that Lutfi has yet to be served with the restraining order. And, despite rumors to the contrary, Sands says he is not aware of Spears and Lutfi having any contact.
A hearing over the restraining order is set for this Friday.

The Britney Effect: The Impact a Year After Her Buzz Cut

A year after her buzz cut seen around the world, Britney Spears's Feb. 16, 2007, antics continue to affect the two owners whose stores she visited that night. "It was a major disruption in my life," says Esther Tognozzi, owner of Esther's Salon, where Spears shaved her head. "I have tourists come by from other countries, and we keep the door locked since people try and sneak in to take pictures or sit in the chair she sat in." Tognozzi no longer answers her salon phone (due to the high volume of media calls as well as pranksters) and was forced to hire a lawyer when people started posting Web sites in her name, pretending to pawn off Spears's hair. "They were using my identity," Tognozzi says, "Talk about an invasion of privacy. I got a little glimpse of her world, and it makes me feel bad for her." Having been in business for 25 years, Tognozzi has a loyal clientele, and she prefers to take on new customers on via referrals. Still, she will get the occasional fan. "This idiot came by the other day, and he makes a buzz gesture and asks to get a haircut," she explains. "He said he had come all the way from Canada."
Awaiting Britney's ReturnStill in possession of Spears's hair and the buzzer used that fateful night, Tognozzi says she is only waiting for the pop star to retrieve the items herself. "People offered me quite a bit to buy it, especially in the first 48 hours since they wanted to drug test it," she says. "But it would be nice if she came back and collected it." Tognozzi is hoping her discretion will pay off for the Etchmiadzin Children's Fund, an Armenian orphanage she works with. "Maybe she'll give me a check to help the orphanage," she muses.
Trouble at Tattoo ParlorWhile Tognozzi has her share of pranksters, Dave Rothburgh, the owner of Body and Soul Tattoo in Sherman Oaks, where Spears went after her haircut for two tattoos (a black, white, and pink cross on her hip and red lips on her wrist), had to deal with a more dangerous audience. "We had stalkers and people calling with death threats," Rothburgh remembers of the months after Spears's visit, "They would leave nasty messages, like, 'We're gonna kill you! How could you do that!" Chuckling at the thought of doing "$10 million in Spears tattoos", Rothburgh was taken aback, and relieved, by the lack of interest. "We were surprised that we only had one or two people asking for the Britney Spears lips. But even those people do it as a joke, not because they idolize her." Now, things are pretty much back to business as usual. He says, "You get all the hoopla for a few months, then nobody really cares." Still, Rothburgh admits, "We did have a BBC crew in last week who wanted to look around."

Britney Watch

BRITNEY Spears' new bodyguards are on strict orders from her dad, Jamie: Don't let her go to a bar or a bathroom alone! The popwreck went to Jeffrey Chodorow's new LA restaurant Citrus at Social on Saturday night with her father, a few friends and a woman described as "her chaperone." The group sat at a table to eat, but Spears hardly touched her lobster burger, preferring butter-fried frites and Tater Tots. When she got restless, her bodyguards, stationed at several places throughout the eatery, jumped into action. "She continuously got up from the table to go to the bathroom or hang out at the bar and smoke a cigarette," our spy said. "Bodyguards followed her to the bathroom and bar." Another snitch who saw Spears leave noted, "She took a coffee cup from the restaurant with her."

It All Began With a Head-Shaving: The Year in Britney

It was the electric razor buzz heard ’round the world. A year ago on Saturday — on February 16, 2007 — just days after a 24-hour stint at Crossroads rehab center, Britney Spears marched into a California hair salon and announced that she wanted to shave her head. We thought that she’d hit an all-time low back then, but it turned out that the 26-year-old pop star had a lot further to fall. And here’s how she unraveled over the next 12 months.

After the head-shaving, the newly bald Brit rounded out the evening by getting two new tattoos. Days later she checked into rehab again, this time at the Promises treatment facility — only to leave less than a day later. Then came the bizarre incident on February 21, in which she attacked a photographer’s car with an umbrella.

The following day she was back in rehab, this time for a month, but Britney’s troubles were far from over. The next year would find the singer trotting out an assortment of odd wigs and hair extensions, often wearing short dresses without panties. She gave new meaning to the word "May flowers" last May when photographs surfaced showing her posing topless with little more than flowers covering her nipples. One hot summer day she pulled over on the side of the road, stripped down to her bra and panties and jumped into the ocean in front of a group of photographers.

It seemed as if the fallen pop star never forgave her parents for forcing her into treatment and refused to let them see their grandsons. In June, she even went so far as to serve her mother, Lynne, with a letter instructing her to stay away from her grandchildren.

Fans hoped for a comeback last fall with the release of her album Blackout and the announcement that she would be opening the MTV Video Music Awards. But Britney’s performance fell flat when the starlet showed up onstage looking dazed and lipsynched and stumbled her way through the song "Gimme More."

Her odd behavior culminated with her losing custody of her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline in the beginning of October. Even Britney’s neighbors turned against her. While out with her sister Jamie Lynn in October, a woman came up to Britney and made it clear that her presence wasn’t wanted. "Nobody wants you in this neighborhood Britney!" she shouted. "You are making this neighborhood very unsafe!"

Jamie Lynn lunged at the woman and screamed in her face, "Then move the f*** out of it!"

Later that month, Britney got her lips plumped and then ran over a photographer’s foot on the way out of the doctor’s office (and didn’t bother to check and see if he was OK).

Along the way there was a string of random men in the singer's life. She had her heart broken early in the year when her ex-boyfriend of six weeks, model Isaac Cohen, sold details of their sex life to a tabloid.

She hooked up with Mindfreak illusionist Criss Angel. She also had a brief dalliance with bodyguard Daimon Shippen, who had caught her older son, Sean Preston, the year before when Britney stumbled on the street and nearly dropped him.

She took on a man named Sam Lutfi as her manager and he quickly became her confidant, rarely leaving her side. She began dating married photographer Adnan Ghalib and brought Chad Hardcastle and paparazzo Filipe Teixeira into her entourage.

The new year brought even more drama. Britney started off 2008 with a three-hour custody standoff at her home. Eventually police had to be called — she was taken to the hospital via ambulance and spent a few days in the psych ward. After her release, she fled to Mexico with Adnan. But by January 31 she was back in the hospital for a week, undergoing mental evaluation. Over the past few weeks, her father, Jamie, has been granted conservatorship over her estate, prompting a turf war with Sam.

The next year is sure to bring more custody battles and theatrics in the life of Britney Spears, but there is some light at the end of the tunnel: She has nowhere to go but up.

A Process Of Healing

Look at her. LOOK at her!

We can just see a very noticeable difference in Britney Spears. She seems calmer, happier and more at peace.

Now that the negative influences have been removed from her life, the once and future pop star's family is ensuring that their beloved daughter gets healthy.

With the chaos gone from her life, a dress up Brit Brit was subdued and smiling sincerely as she went out to dinner at SHU sushi restaurant in Los Angeles on Monday night with her new bodyguards and assistant.

If Britney keeps things up, hopefully she will be able to see her children soon.

That would be very nice!

X17 Reporting that Eardley Talked to Brit Last Night

Sounds like X17 is still getting info from Sam, which makes me even more apprehensive about Jon Eardley. How else would X17 know exactly what Britney supposedly said to him? X17 says that they are exclusively reporting this. Why would a lawyer jump on the phone to tell a photo agency what Britney had said? Sounds fishy to me...

Jamie Spears escorted Britney Spears to the Social Restaurant - Lounge and Club in Hollywood. -Video

Britney goes to club Social with her dad in Hollywood. Everybody looked shocked that she was with him but Brit Brit sure looked a lot better tonight.

Britney Spends Quiet Weekend with Father

Britney Spears marked a relatively quiet President's Day weekend, with her Saturday spent in the company of her father and her assistant Brett inside her Beverly Hills home. When his daughter did go out, Jamie Spears, who has been appointed a conservator in charge of Britney's well-being and her finances, accompanied her to dinner, with the two joining a small party at Citrus at Social Hollywood, on Sunset Boulevard. Outside chef Michel Richards's new restaurant, a photographer asked the pop star, 26, how she was doing. "Good," she replied gently. At dinner, "she seemed totally normal and level-headed, and everyone with her seemed calm," said a customer in the restaurant. "She was with a table of five people." When she left, she exited through a side door, and took a coffee cup with her. The occasion was a stark contrast to exactly a year ago, when a frenzied Spears went into a San Fernando Valley salon and shaved off her hair.
Dressed for DinnerOn Saturday, she wore a long chocolate-brown jersey dress with spaghetti straps, accessorized with silver jewelry including drop earrings, a necklace and a watch. The previous day, the singer spent time inside some West Hollywood boutiques, where she browsed rather than bought. The weekend also brought an invitation from her Beverly Hills neighbor, Heidi Klum – who said Spears could come live with her, husband Seal and their three children as a means to help get her life back on track.

Brit Takes Dad out to Dinner

Okay, even if you’re the coldest person on earth, these pictures should at least warm you up a little bit. For one thing, Britney’s looking much healthier than I’ve seen her in the last few weeks in these photos. Second, she’s going out to dinner with her papa. Yes, Ms. Britney took dad Jamie out to dinner at Social in Hollywood a couple of nights ago. Even though the two have had their rocky days, at least they’re trying their best to mend their relationship. Plus, it’s good to see that Brit’s dad stayed put to make sure she’s doing okay after her hospitalization. That has to make Britney feel loved, right? While mama Lynne is back home in Lousiana taking care of Jamie Lynn, daddy’s here in Los Angeles keeping an eye out on older sis. I’m telling you - there’s nothing like family.
I think she looks super in these pics....What do you think?

Alli on her 13th minute...

If you want some sort of fame, forget trying to get into American Idol. Just somehow befriend or become Britney Spears’ assistant or driver, and you’re good to go. Case in point - Alli Sims. Why is she famous? Why am I blogging about her? And why are the paps following her? Well, because Alli is related to Ms. Brit. I think they’re cousins, right, or that’s what Alli’s claimed. And she’s pretty smart, this Alli. She knows that if her name’s thrown in somewhere in Brit’s headlines, at least she’ll get some press. Pretty clever, Ms. Sims. Enjoy your 13th minute and counting of fame as much as you can, coz’ it looks like Brit’s going to be putting together a new set of entourage.

Heidi and Brit...BFF?

This is really very neighborly. People.com has a cool story about how Heidi Klum offered to house Britney Spears for a couple of months if the troubled pop star needed it. The German-born model/TV show host said she would help set Britney straight and that she felt bad seeing a young woman go through these troubles. I believe it, too - the setting Brit straight part. German mamas are tough (but fair) and they know how to take care of their kiddies. And besides, Heidi Klum has three little kids of her own - I think she’s probably very patient. Well, maybe Heidi and Seal can just start by double dating with Britney and Adnan. I think that would be nice. Brit needs some real friends around her. Give Heidi a call, Brit!

Alli Sims: Still Nothing Without Britney

It's minute 14.3 into Alli Sims' 15 minutes -- and she's almost a never-was wannabeen. The Brit hanger-on was leaving Orso last night, minus her former posse of Britney and Sam. The only interesting thing about her now is that "Blossom" hair.Alli does talk about speaking to Brit -- Pa Spears hasn't put the brakes on their relationship ... yet.

Britney Parties with Papa

Since being placed under conservatorship, Britney hasn't made many appearances after dark, but she reappeared last night at Citrus at Social in Hollywood -- with her conserv-o-dad and security in tow. Brit Brit without Sam is starting to become a good look! The paps went crazazy for Brit -- resulting in one getting arrested! The recuperating mother of two looked better than she has lately, even if she is a little glassy-eyed. It even looked like you could run your fingers through her weave!

Which Supermodel Wants Brit to Move In?

Britney Spears looks less than thrilled, dare we say, kind of miserable, heading home from dinner with dad at Social Club last night. (I don't know about that, but OK.....)
And this is kind of how Brit's been looking recently, isn't it. Nothing seems to put a smile on her face. (Again, I've seen her smile in many pictures lately...)

But those days of melancholy may soon be over; a supermodel wants to save her!
We'll tell you which supermodel wants Brit to move in, after the jump.
It's Gisele!OK. It's totally not Gisele. (We're sure Gisele would've offered if she wasn't already busy saving someone else.)
It's Heidi! Really.

Yes, Heidi Klum, mother of three, wife of Seal, supermodel, etc. says she wants to help Brit. And she already has a plan!
"She can call me and come live in our house with us for a couple of months," she said in an interview with German broadcaster ARD to be aired Monday. "I would help her set her straight." "I am sorry when a young person gets thrown so off track," says our favorite supermodel turned TV host. "She has, of course, lived an extremely wild life."
I like Heidi, but I don't think that's gonna happen...

Lawyer Claims Britney Held Hostage!!!

The lawyer who derailed the Britney Spears conservatorship case tells TMZ Britney herself called him and asked him to take the reins. The question: Will a judge be buyin' what he's sellin'?Attorney John Eardley filed papers in federal court last Thursday, alleging the California courts have railroaded Britney by imposing a conservatorship. Eardley tells us Britney called him, but he would not disclose the circumstances surrounding the alleged call or what she said. We do know that Michael Sands, who used to be the spokesperson for K-daddy's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is now the mouthpiece for Eardley. And Sands also reps Sam Lutfi, who is now restrained from all things Britney. So, are Lutfi and Sands behind the whole magilla with Eardley? Smells like it.Eardley tells TMZ Britney didn't sign a retainer agreement because she is being "held hostage" in her own home. Ironically, a half hour before he told us this, we looked out our office windows and saw Britney driving through West Hollywood on a shopping spree.Just by filing the Federal papers, Eardley has paralyzed the California courts from issuing more orders in the conservatorship case unless and until the Federal judge tells Eardley to take a hike.

I'm not sure about this Eardley guy.....What do you think? Sounds like maybe Sam is behind his motives.

Bonding Time

Britney Spears got all dressed up on Saturday night for a lovely meal with her dad, Jamie, at the new restaurant at Social Hollywood.
We love seeing Brit Brit spend time with her father. And it is nice seeing her well protected by her large security team.
Spears seems different, in a good way. We genuinely hope she's keeping up with therapy and treatment. It is essential! ESSENTIAL.

She looks good, Don't you think......
