Report: UCLA Firing Hospital Workers for Snooping on Britney

UCLA Medical Center will be firing at least 13 employees and is disciplining others, including physicians, for looking at Britney Spears's medical files, the Los Angeles Times reports. Spears, 26, was involuntary hospitalized at the campus's psych ward for one week beginning Jan. 31, after her doctor made the request. But the records reviewed by those who are targeted for dismissal were from previous hospitalizations at UCLA, the Times reports. The dates and purposes of those hospitalizations weren't known. UCLA officials declined to comment on the reported firings, but said in a statement: "UCLA Health System considers patient confidentiality a critical part of our mission of teaching, research and patient care. ... We have stringent policies to protect patient confidentiality and address violations of those policies."

This is insane news (no pun intended). The L.A. Times is reporting that the UCLA Medical Center will be firing some staffers who apparently took a look at Britney’s private hospital records. Such an act is illegal even if you’re not famous, so this is not something special they’re doing for Brit. Patient’s confidentiality, people! Patient’s confidentiality. UCLA Med Center will be letting go 13 employees, and six are already suspended. Here’s another troubling fact - at least six physicians have also been reprimanded for taking a peek. Goodness! Brit was last hospitalized on January 31.

Wouldn’t it be funny if we all tuned in to How I Met Your Mother to watch Britney’s guest starring role and she only had two lines? Okay, probably not. Brit’s gotten a lot of press lately regarding her guest role on the CBS show and I know some folks are wondering what the big deal is. Besides the fact that she’s doing much better lately, the show’s a nice stepping stone for her comeback. Yeah, I’m starting to hate the word comeback, too. Brit’s been getting rave reviews from the show’s cast and crew, too. Neil Patrick Harris told Pagesix.com that she is very good and very professional. It’s funny how folks always say that because Brit would never have gone as far as she did (or make as much money as she has) if she didn’t know how to be professional, right? Neil Patrick Harris: "Britney Seems Fragile"

Britney Spears was a true professional this week, arriving bright and early to the set of How I Met Your Mother. But that doesn’t mean the diva is completely gone — the singer wore her sunglasses the whole time she was in the studio. That didn’t stop Neil Patrick Harris from raving about Britney’s read-through on Tuesday.
"She's good,” he says. “She seemed a little nervous, she wore the big sunglasses the whole time. I think that's a bit of a security blanket.”
He adds: “But she seems very professional."
NPH (as we like to call him) does admit that Britney seems vulnerable in person. "Being up close to her, she seems like a very sort of fragile, kind of complicated person; it must be very strange to live in her life."
Spears plays a secretary at a dermatologist’s office in the upcoming episode. She shocked the cast by showing up to set at 7:30 a.m. Co-star Josh Radnor tells People: "It pains me to report that on the first day of the shoot, Britney knew her lines better than I knew mine. She's been great to work with."

K-Fed’s Big B-day Payday

How much would you pay for one night with Kevin Federline? If you’re Pure nightclub, the answer is: a lot!
Multiple sources tell PageSix.com that former Mr. Britney Spears is being paid at least six figures to host his 30th birthday party at the Las Vegas hotspot on March 21. (Check out the invite, above!) One insider says he will make about $175,000.
“Kevin is a big spender, and a draw for the crowds. So the money he gets is nothing compared to the money they make,” the source tells PageSix.com.
The big payday is particularly interesting considering that earlier this week, Britney’s lawyer argued that the pop star shouldn’t have to pay for Kevin’s legal fees because he has more money than he claims.
The family insider tells us that Kevin is planning on spending a few days in Las Vegas, which might give his ex-wife a chance to spend some quality time with their kids.
“Kevin is hoping Britney will be able to have time with the boys for a few days while he is gone, but it all depends on how she is doing at the time,” says the insider. “Also, Kevin has to feel confident that Jamie [Spears] will make sure the boys are watched over at all times while she is with them.”
Even though he’s leaving sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, behind, the aspiring rapper won’t be lacking for company. Brother Chris Federline, who just celebrated his own birthday this week, will also be on hand for the party.
"Kevin loves Vegas and would like to make a party time out of it,” adds the source.

Britney Spears Wraps Up Work on TV Show

Britney Spears completed two days of filming on TV's How I Met Your Mother, receiving praise from the sitcom's cast for her attitude and comic skills. "There was not an ounce of the dark side that we've all read so much about," star Neil Patrick Harris, 34, said Thursday night at a West Hollywood party for the show. In the episode, which will air March 24, Spears plays a receptionist at a dermatologist's office, and she falls for one of the show's main characters, played by Josh Radnor. Spears, 26, shot her scenes Wednesday and Thursday. "She was hilarious in the table-read, and I got to see her do the run-through as well, and she was great," cast member Jason Segel said at the Jameson Irish Whiskey St. Patrick's Day party. "She was great and lovely and couldn't be sweeter." Added cast member Alyson Hannigan: "You can still kill a joke if you don't have comic timing, and she's not killing them. Britney Spears "Talked About Clothes and Dogs" on TV Set

So what was Britney Spears like on the How I Met Your Mother set?
"She was lovely," Alyson Hannigan told Usmagazine.com at the sitcom's re-launch party in West Hollywood Thursday. (The party had a St. Patrick’s Day theme, complete with Jameson Irish Whisky stations since the show will return to the air on St. Patrick’s Day.)
"She’s just a person — so sweet and funny," Hannigan added. "We just talked about our clothes and dogs, and it was surprisingly just normal."
The rest of the cast couldn't stop raving about the actress — who shot scenes Wednesday and Thursday in L.A. — either.
"She’s beautiful," actor Jason Segel told Us. "You know, I was so focused on her hair that I’m overwhelmed with adjectives! She was great and lovely."
He said he wasn't surprised that Spears nailed her role as a dorky receptionist who falls for Ted (Josh Radnor).
"She was great," Segel added. "She was better than all five of us, so I guess that says a lot."
Added Cobie Smulders, "She was very professional and her comedic timing was great!"
The cast shrugged off rumors that Alicia Silverstone turned down a role on the show after learning that Spears was on board.
"I think there was some scheduling problems or something," Smulders said, adding that Scrubs star Sarah Chalke "came in at the last second."
Neil Patrick Harris said "there’s hope" Silverstone may still appear on the show at some point.
"She’s seemed to avoid that weird actress trap of only being able to do a very limited amount of things," he told Us. "She’s gone on to do interesting theater, so you’ve got to respect her chops now.
"She’s making smart choices so if she wants to come play with us, we’d be glad to have her!"

Kim Kardashian Wants to Give Britney a Makeover

Kim Kardashian has her eye on Britney Spears – and her clothing. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and stylist says in a new video blog post that she would love to give the pop star a little help in the fashion department. "I would love, love, love to give Britney Spears a makeover," Kardashian says. "I think everyone wants to give her a makeover. But I think that she is so cute and sweet and has a great style. But it's all fallen apart and it's a mess now. I would love to bring her back to where she used to be."Kardashian, whose E! show recently returned for its second season, also turns her attention to other celebrities in the three-minute video. The Boys Are Back - Again!

Due to How I Met Your Mother's early call time, Britney Spears wasn't able to see her boys when her mother Lynn brought them by for a visit yesterday morning.
That's OK - there's always tomorrow!
Sean and Jayden were p from Kevin's this morning for another 9 AM visit with their mother. As usual, everyone stayed inside until noon, when Britney's time with the boys ran out and they had to go home to daddy. Britney's Lawyers' Million Dollar Fees

PageSix.com just obtained the minute order from Britney Spears' custody hearing on Monday, and Commissioner Gordon still hasn't decided what legal fees the pop star should be forced to pay.
In a four-month period, almost $1 million in fees were incurred. Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, is seeking around $500,000 and wants Brit to pay the bill, and Britney's former lawyers Trope and Trope are seeking close to $600,000.
The report also said that Mark Vincent Kaplan's deposition transcripts were ordered sealed.

It looks like lil' Jamie Lynn Spears is going to be raising her little man in K-wood rather than subject him to H-wood and the crazy media cauldron his aunt Brit subjected J.J. and Sean to.A source tells MSNBC that J-Lynn is building a nursery in Kentwood, La., near the rest of the family, and that it's being designed by Petit Tresor, which also did J. Lo's nurseries. Britney Spears is glad to be back on TV.
"Working at How I Met Your Mother has been so terrific," Spears said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
The singer is scheduled to play Abby, a dorky receptionist, on the March 24 episode.
"Everyone, including the cast, the crew and the producers, has been wonderful and Abby is such a fun girl to play," Spears said. "I'm having a blast!"
She filmed scenes yesterday in L.A. Her mom Lynne was spotted visiting her trailer.
"Britney’s not playing a version of herself," Mother creator Craig Thomas tells Us. "I think that’s part of what appealed to her."
He said she agreed to the part just one day after reading the script.
It is Spears' first return to the small screen since a 2006 cameo on Will & Grace.

Britney Spears’ kids could be uprooted to the opposite side of the US - if ex-hubby Kevin Federline gets his Broadway dream.The former back-up dancer and aspiring hip-hop artist is in talks about making his stage debut in Legally Blonde, according to one US magazine.And now he has physical custody of their two sons - Sean, 2, and Jayden, 18 months - both could be joining him in the September move from Los Angeles to New York.K-Fed, 30, who is fighting a bitter custody battle with pop wreck Britney, is said to be “excited” about being involved in the musical adaptation of the hit movie, which starred Hollywood hottie Reese Witherspoon.He’s now launching a gruelling exercise regime to get stage-fit after recently piling on the pounds - “daddy-weight” according to his other ex Shar Jackson.He’s set to test his singing and dancing skills in a trio of roles in the show, including one as a postman. And despite K-Fed’s ugly battle with Britney, her parents are reportedly supporting his dreams.“This is his chance to show the world what he can do,” said one close friend. “This is his dream and he wants to bring the kids with him.“Jamie and Lynne Spears have promised to help him make it work.”And K-Fed may not be the only star hitting Broadway - new mum Nicole Richie has been also reportedly approached to star in Chicago.

Britney takes a great fall, meets some sketchy men and then blows herself up.Oh, the subtext.We just got a look at Britney's new video for "Break the Ice" and have to say that, like most anime, it's an incomprehensible mix of explosions, slow-mo dance moves and some kind of ninja riot police.And yet its meaning is clear: Britney is a superpowered woman in skintight clothes who overcomes adversity by nuking herself and everyone around her.Yeah, the last part is a little Freudian for our taste.In the video, Super Spears finds something in a floating tank—her soul? her real self? her aquatic dopplegänger?—and proceeds to apply a time bomb to the tank, blowing it and everyone else to bits as she jumps out a skyscraper window all Die Hard-style. The video ends with the promise (or threat) that it will be continued.That's a good thing, right?
