Spears' Parenting Skills Scrutinized

The verdict is in on the Britster's parenting know-how.
But we're just going to have to wait a little bit longer to find out if she gets a thumbs up or thumbs down from the court.
E! News has confirmed that a child custody evaluation report detailing the pros and cons of Britney Spears' mothering has been completed.
The report, commissioned by a Los Angeles family court in Spears' ongoing battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline over young sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, was filed Friday by Dr. Jane Shatz.
Lawyers for both Spears and Federline declined to comment on the substance of the document.
While no specific positives or criticisms have been made public, the report's findings are expected to get a full airing at the next hearing in the case, set for May 6, when attorneys are planning to debate merits of a modified custody arrangement.
Spears, who has typically avoided courtroom showdowns in the matter, may actually show this time to defend herself.

The dramas of a few months ago now seem but a distant memory.
A testament to how far she's come is Britney's callback to US show How I Met Your Mother, in which she had a cameo as a receptionist called Abby.
After her previous stint earned the show its highest ever ratings, with Britney getting good reviews to boot, the producers decided to give get her back in for another appearance.

It's Official! Britney Is Back on HIMYM

As rumored for weeks now, Britney Spears is indeed returning to CBS' giddy-good comedy, How I Met Your Mother for at least one more episode. It's been confirmed by Fox Studios that Brit-Brit will play the same role, Abby, in the 19th (and penultimate) episode of the season, airing May 12.
"We're all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again," HIMYM boss Craig Thomas said. "And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney's very nice and no, I can't get her autograph for you." They begin shooting today.
What's the ep about? Well, according to Fox: "In 'Everything Must Go,' Barney and Abby realize that they have one thing in common: their mutual hatred of Ted. The new 'couple' decides to go to the bar to flaunt their new relationship in Ted’s face. Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby."

BRITNEY SPEARS' number one hits have been turned into art pieces for a new Arizona exhibition.Current and former Arizona State University graduate students have created a series of mixed media exhibits inspired by 11 Spears chart-toppers.The Number Ones show, which opens on Friday (02May08) at the LAS Gallery in Phoenix, will feature video, photographic and mixed media inspired by Spears' biggest hits.
One piece, a sexy apron made from a lace tablecloth, was inspired by 2000 hit Oops!... I Did It Again.Artists Mindy Sue Meyers, who admits to being a big fan of the troubled pop superstar, says, "The stitching on the apron offers a different identity to what would be a normal, homemaker apron."This is a duality that I think Britney has struggled with since she became a pop star."
For another exhibit, inspired by Spears' first hit ...Baby, One More Time, artist Nick DeFord has depicted a smiling Spears using black and blue push pins on a corkboard.

ET CONFIRMS BRITNEY SPEARS will be returning to the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother," for an episode scheduled to air May 12.
"We're all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again," executive producer CRAIG THOMAS says. "And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney's very nice and no, I can't get her autograph for you."
Britney will be reprising her role as Abby the receptionist. Production on the episode begins today.

Custody Report says Brit has "Issues"

The parental bible in the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline custody war is in -- and it is powerful, folks.
It's called the Child Custody Evalauation report. Sources say it is "several hundred" pages long, and lawyers for both sides received it on Friday. Our sources say the report is a "mixed bag" -- both encouraging and damaging for Britney. The report, written by Dr. Jane Shatz, is extremely detailed. There is a hearing next week (May 6) in the custody case and the report could be all-telling.And, sources say, the report "makes it more likely that Britney will show for the hearing."Lawyers for both sides refused to comment or respond.

Hollywood manager Larry Rudolph has ordered one-time teen protege Britney Spears to drop twenty pounds and regain her once stunning looks. Larry has insisted that Britney begin a wellness regime including a daily regime of exercise before he will help her resume her career.
Larry feels that Britney needs to lose twenty pounds and tone up, The National Enquirer reports.

She spent the rest of her afternoon working out at Bally's in Ventura. She's reportedly gearing up for a tour, which is why she's been at the gym every single day for the past few weeks. It's nice to see her get her life back on track, but at the same time, sane Britney is such a bore.

SonyBMG Make Michael Jackson, Britney Spears Songs Available For Free

As part of new digital service...
SonyBMG, one of the world’s biggest record labels, has made music by its artists free to listen to over the internet.
The record label has signed a deal with We7 to stream songs on user’s computers accompanied by a short advert.
The new deal will give music fans access to the complete back-catalogues of artists including Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Elvis Presley.
Speaking to BBC’s Newsbeat, the boss of We7 Steve Purdham, said the deal will give “free music in return for some of your time.”
The new service, which launches today (April 28th), will build the profiles of its users so that adverts are target specific to each person.
Once users have listened to the songs they will also have the option to pay to download the tracks to their computer or MP3 players.
We7 is seen as the latest effort to try and control the growing problem of music piracy, which has seen the sale of traditional recorded formats, such as CDs, decline rapidly over recent years.

Britney getting back to her best

WE'VE waited for a while.
But here's BRITNEY SPEARS starting to resemble something like the Britney of old.
The singer has been putting in the hours down the gym ahead of her music comeback.
Coupled with her recent normal behaviour, signs are good that the star is well on her way to making a full recovery from the troubles that have marred her life for the past few years.

And, thankfully, Britney's return to good health has also benefitted her relationship with her two boys, SEAN PRESTON and JAYDEN JAMES.
The star's mum, LYNNE, told a US magazine: “I pray for Britney every day to be a better mother.
"She’s gone through a lot of trauma, but she seems to be coming out of it - and it’s showing in her relationship with the boys.
"They’re really bonding."

Wig out. Kids in. No news is good news for Britney

The crazy pink wig hasn't been seen for weeks, late night dashes to the psychiatric ward have ceased and there are no more pictures without panties. Could no news finally be good news for Britney Spears?
It has been a barren couple of months for scandal about Spears, 26, whose life became a front-page disaster in 2007 and early 2008 when she lost custody of her children, shaved her head, was seen distinctly underdressed at parties and was twice hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation.
Out of the limelight and under the guardianship of her father, Spears appears to be making so much progress that some people are even talking about a comeback.
"She has almost come back from the dead," said Harvey Levin, managing editor of celebrity Web site TMZ.com which still reports on her every move.
"She is happy again, she seems stable. She is seeing her kids again, she is trying to get her recording career back. The crazy conduct is not there anymore. She is a different human being from how she was three months ago," Levin told Reuters.
Apart from a minor traffic incident on April 12 -- the kind of "fender-bender" experienced by virtually every Angeleno with a car -- the only recent news about Spears has been good.
She's been regularly working out at the gym and taking dance classes. She surprised critics with a sassy guest appearance in the TV sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" and has been photographed playing happily with her two sons after striking a visitation deal with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Spears also has reconciled with her ex-manager Larry Rudolph, the man who was responsible for taking a 16-year old kid from Louisiana and making her the world's best known pop star at the turn of the 21st century.
ROAD TO RECOVERY
"I've seen her probably about three or four times over the past couple of weeks and she's in great shape," Rudolph said in a MySpace Celebrity blog. "I think she's really well on the road to getting back to the Britney everybody knows and loves."
Spears' father appears to have been key in bringing about the transformation.
In February -- after Spears was taken by ambulance to a psychiatric unit for the second time in a month -- Jamie Spears was appointed by a Los Angeles judge to take control of his daughter's personal and business affairs until July 31.
The Spears family also won a restraining order against Sam Lutfi, the former self-styled manager accused by Britney's mother, Lynne, of drugging her daughter to take control of her life and finances.
In recent weeks Lutfi's spokesman has said his client and the family are cooperating, while the restraining order stays in effect until July 31.
A recent survey by E-Poll Market Research, which polls fans about stars, shows Spears' negative appeal falling to 19 percent from 29 percent in January.
Her medical problems have never been clarified, but she is widely reported to have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Dr. Gail Saltz, associate professor of psychiatry at New York's Presbyterian Hospital, warned that it was too soon to declare Spears out of the woods.
"All the issues that one suspects may be going on -- and those we know like divorce and child custody -- are not resolvable in a few weeks. People can appear to get better for a while and then relapse," said Saltz.
Spears has been spotted in recent days inside a Los Angeles recording studio for the first time in a year.
"I think everybody is rooting for her.... And when she comes back, I think it is going to be huge," Rudolph said.

Jamie Lynn Spears reunited with mom Lynne in their Kentwood, Louisiana, hometown on Thursday after spending months apart.
Pregnancy cravings, anyone? The pregnant 17-year-old was photographed carrying a doggy bag out of Nyla's Burger Basket.
The two must've worked up an appetite: That same day, they hit Connie's Jewelry & Gifts, where Jamie Lynn (in a T-shirt and pink short shorts) picked up a baby toy, the Graco Swing & Bounce, which retails for about $130. (Click here to see Jamie Lynn's bump days.)
Lynne has been in L.A. looking after Britney. She even missed out on Jamie Lynn's 17th birthday festivities, which included a trip to Wal-Mart and dinner at Ruby Tuesday restaurant.
Jamie Lynn recently accepted her baby daddy Casey Aldridge's marriage proposal.
“They probably weren’t expecting [the proposal] to be, like, right now, but with her being pregnant, that really pushed it up,” his cousin, Tina Robinson, told Usmagazine.com.

Britney, Paris Hilton Blasted for Pet Care

An author is blasting Britney Spears and Paris Hilton for impulse pet buying in a new book, the New York Post's Page Six reports.

Karen Dawn, author of the animal-rights tome "Thanking the Monkey: Rethinking the Way We Treat Animals," chastises the pair for their pet menageries.

"We've already seen Paris go through dogs faster than mojitos, and I bet nobody warned Britney that California might soon force drivers to keep dogs safely restrained in vehicles — like babies," Dawn writes.

Spears has owned four dogs and a parakeet while Hilton has bought a handful of dogs, a ferret and an exotic kinkajou.

"An impulse purchase of a companion for the next 15 years? ... Nobody expects them to have the dogs much longer than 15 months," Dawn writes.

Lynne Spears Gets Into War Of Words With Magazine Over Britney, Jamie Lynn Comments

Did she or didn't she? The question of whether Lynne Spears, mother of Britney and Jamie Lynn, opened up to a reporter from Life & Style for the magazine's latest issue is in contention, with the magazine standing by its story, and the Spears' family rep calling the article "a lie."
The confusion started when Life & Style trumpeted an exclusive interview with the pop starlets' parent, in a cover line that read, "What Mom Really Thinks." The story claimed that Spears dished about both daughters, saying she was disappointed that Jamie Lynn had gotten pregnant at a young age, and that she was praying for her oldest daughter.
"I pray for Britney every day to be a better mother," the publication quotes Spears as saying. "She's gone through a lot of trauma, but she seems to be coming out of it � and it's showing in her relationship with the boys. They're really bonding." The only trouble is, Spears claims the conversation never took place.
Life & Style said that the interview occurred on Sunday, when both the magazine's reporter and Spears were flying from Los Angeles to New Orleans on Delta. A spokesperson for the magazine said the interview was a "long conversation that Lynne knowingly had with a Life & Style reporter, who identified themselves as such, aboard the flight."

Spears' rep Lou Taylor, however, disputes that the reporter identified himself at all, or that he sat next to Spears long enough to even have a conversation. Whether he identified himself or not, Spears' rep said that she suspected he was a reporter and asked the flight attendant to make him move because "he was so obnoxious." "She knew he was a plant," Taylor told MTV News. "He did not talk to her, and we have four people sitting next to her to attest to that."
No tape exists of the interaction, and it was unknown at press time whether the reporter took notes.
"When Lynne Spears is ready to give an interview," Taylor said, "I can assure you it will be a true account without speculation as to whether or not she participated."
Despite this, Life & Style said it stands by its reporting.

Britney was back at Bally yesterday and all the online rumblings about her possibly being paid by the gym to make 'appearances' are starting to sound less and less unlikely. I mean, Brit could exercise at home with a hot personal trainer so why is she doing it at Bally in Culver City of all places?
AND another question ... Brit still looks like she's in a funk, no?
We got fifteen angles of bland yesterday when we shot the girl after her workout. Isn't exercise supposed to release endorphins that make you feel good -- give you a rush?
What happened to the happy go-lucky Britney we used to know (and no, I'm not talking about the wild, driving-around-at-2am-to-RiteAid Brit); I'm talking about the old Brit, circa 2006)? Is she ever coming back?

You gotta think the folks over at the Culver City Bally’s Total Fitness are getting a huge boost in publicity now that Britney Spears is making daily trips to their facility.
The “Gimme More” singer was spotted (along with her bodyguard) on her way to her regularly-scheduled workout last night, sporting her favorite green zip-up hoodie, a black tank top, and a pair of grey track pants.
And, according to a recent interview, it sounds like Brit’s mom Lynne Spears credits her faith in God for the dramatic turnaround in her eldest daughter’s life.

A document obtained by E! News show that Britney Online Inc., one of Britney Spears' numerous name-brand companies, owes $23,589.17 in state taxes on the entity's 2004 earnings. (View the lien.)
"Further interest and fees will accrue" if the sum is not paid, according to the Franchise Tax Board of the State of California.
There's no word yet on how Britney Touring, Britney Brands, Britney Films, Britney Television and FairyZone Productions are doing as far as the state—or the IRS—is concerned.
But isn't it inevitable that a court commissioner will solve the problem by simply pointing Spears' attorneys in the direction of her bottomless bill-paying pit, aka her estate, to take care of the back taxes?

OK! Exclusive: Lynne Spears Denies Giving Interview to Tabloid!

A tabloid magazine has just been published, claiming on its cover to have an "Exclusive Interview" with Lynne Spears. But Britney and Jamie Lynn's mom did not talk to the rag.
The magazine claims that in this so-called exclusive interview, Lynne admitted to being upset about 17-year-old Jamie Lynn's pregnancy. Well, OK! can tell you exclusively that this is anything but the truth.
Her spokesperson tells OK!: "When Lynne Spears is ready to give an interview I can assure you it will be a true account without speculation as to whether or not she participated."
