More Mommy Time for Britney

After not seeing her boys for almost two months, Britney Spears has scored her second face-to-face visit in the past three days.
The embattled pop star received another in-home visit from one-year-old Jayden James and two-year-old Sean Preston on Monday, E! News has confirmed.
The kids were again shuttled to Spears' home in Kevin Federline's gray Dodge Viper truck, driven by Federline's longtime security guard, at around 9 a.m. They departed shortly after noon. News of the Monday sojourn was first reported by jfxonline.com.
While few details of Monday's mommy-and-me session were available, during Saturday's visit, Spears, 26, was not permitted to be alone with her sons.
Among those present at the initial visit were her father, Jamie Spears, a court-appointed monitor, a Federline bodyguard and an attorney from the Luce Forward law firm, which is handling Britney's conservatorship for Jamie Spears. It was believed all parties were on hand again for Monday's visit.
The boys have resided primarily with Federline, since October, when Spears was stripped of custody. The singer lost visitation on Jan. 3, after a custody standoff that ended with her being hospitalized and placed on a psych hold.
The recent visits were the result of negotiations between lawyers for Kevin Federline and Luce Forward last week, with Jamie Spears also sharing a large portion of the credit.
"None of this would have happened if Jamie Spears had not been involved. That's for sure," Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! News Friday. "He gets a lot of credit for helping make this happen. But we've worked very hard with the conservator lawyers, as well, to make this all work."
Meanwhile, lawyers for the conservatorship filed new court documents Monday, urging a judge to end a civil rights challenge to Jamie Spears' control over his daughter's financial affairs.
Attorney Jon Eardley, who claims he was hired by the troubled singer earlier this month, has argued in court documents that Britney's constitutional rights are being violated and is seeking to have her conservatorship case moved from Los Angeles Superior Court to federal court.
In their latest motion, the conservatorship attorneys argue that Eardley has both failed to prove that he legitimately represents Britney, and to meet the court's filing deadline.
They have asked that the case be immediately returned to Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz and that Eardley be forced to reimburse the approximately $43,000 in attorney fees racked up as a result of his actions.

Spears' Lawyers Say Brit Ain't No Cash Register

TMZ has obtained documents filed today in Federal court in the Britney Spears conservatorship case and her lawyers have made it clear -- Brit's not the Bank of America.Jamie Spears' lawyers claim attorney Jon Eardley, who filed the motion to remove the case to Federal court, has triggered a flurry of legal moves that have already cost Brit more than $40 grand. For his part, attorney Jon Eardley claims he was retained by Britney on February 12 and has spoken with her on several occasions. He says the last time she attempted to call him, "the telephone was taken away from her, and the number was disconnected the next day." Eardley says Brit has "never been and is not now on comfortable terms with her live-in father conservator" and claims that he is "concerned for the emotional and physical safety of Britney."

Britney Visits Her Babies Again!

While the paparazzi were sleeping off their Oscar hangovers, Tater Tot and Small Fry quietly saw their mom again Monday morning.
Britney was once again allowed to visit with her two young sons. This is the second visit within three days for Brit Brit and the kids. Before that, Spears hadn't seen her babies since the beginning of January.
Making up for lost time!
A source told OK! magazine that "It went very well. The boys are really happy to see their mom."
Britney's visit lasted from approximately 9am to Noon PT.
Even K-Fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, was optimistic about the visits, saying "These visitations with the boys will help to normalize the family environment. Kevin has always been rooting for Britney to regain visitation… and if these visits go well, they will ramp up over time."
Spear's camp is hoping to get visitation up to three times a week. Joining Britney at the visits are her father, Jamie Spears, Brit's psychologist, one of K-Fed's bodyguards, and the court-appointed monitor and a lawyer representing the conservatorship.
The next hearing for the ongoing custody battle is set to take place on April 9th.

Jamie Lynn gets GED

On a better note than that of Britney going broke
Her little sis, Jamie Lynn Spears has gotten her high school diploma!
The pregnant sixteen-year-old passed the GED exam last month and apparently scored pretty well on reading comprehension. She is now looking to take the ACT college entrance test.
Once she pops the baby out, let's hope that academia wins out over partying or popping out more babies!

In the Drama of Britney Spears, a Show Business Fortune Is at Risk

By DAVID M. HALBFINGER and GERALDINE FABRIKANT
LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears’s klieg-lighted meltdown sent her to the psychiatric ward twice, and left her long-divorced parents, her brother, and a SWAT team of lawyers and accountants grappling with how to protect her from predatory hangers-on, from the paparazzi who dog her every move and from her own erratic behavior.
Beyond the psychodrama being played out on tabloid covers, celebrity-news shows and gossip Web sites is another serious subject for the Spears family: how to protect the millions of dollars that Ms. Spears, 26, has amassed over a decade as one of America’s biggest pop music, merchandise and endorsement engines.
It’s impossible to say how much money she has. Published estimates of her net worth have varied wildly, up to $125 million. But one of her former financial advisers, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of his relationship with his client, estimated her current fortune at around $50 million.
That’s an enormous amount, but, as Michael Jackson proved, being a wealthy cultural phenomenon doesn’t make one impervious to financial disaster. Celebrities, like athletes, often have a small window to make their money, typically at a young age when they are probably not thinking about the future.
As a result, many child stars like Macaulay Culkin are dragged into family squabbles over money while others — too numerous to mention — end up looking to revive their careers long after the money has run out.
Ms. Spears will not run out of money anytime soon, but her longer-term prospects have taken a hit in the last year because of bizarre behavior — her public scenes, questionable parenting skills and a shaky comeback performance at the MTV Awards — and her tortured personal life after her divorce from Kevin Federline, formerly one of her backup dancers.
According to court documents, her everyday finances seem to have fallen into disrepair as well. A Feb. 14 court filing put it starkly: “Members of Britney’s household,” it said, “have been paying for her basic necessities, including medicine, food, and other day-to-day needs.”
On Feb. 1, the day after Ms. Spears was involuntarily admitted for treatment at the U.C.L.A. Medical Center, her estranged father, Jamie Spears, was named her co-conservator, giving him control over her treatment, security, visitors and daily life.
Mr. Spears is sharing oversight of her estate with an independent lawyer, Andrew M. Wallet, to dispel the notion that Ms. Spears’s parents were making a grab for their daughter’s fortune. With the court’s permission, they immediately fired her business manager.
Another team of lawyers was hired for the conservators and quickly set out to assess the financial damage. Yet another lawyer was appointed by the probate court, as is routine, to look out solely for Ms. Spears’s interests. Ms. Spears’s brother Bryan, along with a lawyer, were given control of her revocable trust, which contains all her liquid assets, so they could begin paying her bills. And Ms. Spears’s criminal lawyer, Blair Berk, was said to be overseeing the whole Humpty Dumpty-like effort.
All the independent lawyers aside, one cannot ignore money as a motivating factor as the estranged Spears parents joined forces. Since she first became a pop star in 1999 on the strength of her hit “Baby One More Time,” she has been the primary breadwinner for the entire Spears clan.
The earning power of her 16-year-old sister, Jamie Lynn, the star of “Zooey 101” on Nickelodeon, probably suffered in December when she announced her pregnancy, which also helped sink her mother’s deal to write a book on parenting.
What little light has been shed on Ms. Spears’s finances came last May, when part of an income statement surfaced in her divorce case. It put her average monthly earnings at more than $730,000, mainly from royalties, but said she earned only $13,000 a month from investments. (Her spending, including $102,000 a month for entertainment, gifts and vacation and $16,000 for clothes, was more eye-catching.)
The nature of her investments might be unclear as well. Accountants are trying to learn whether her money was moved into overly risky investment vehicles, whether any business deals need to be undone and whether her assets were outright looted. (Her father filed a report of grand theft, according to The Los Angeles Times, asserting that paintings, jewelry and other valuables had been stripped from her Beverly Hills home).
Though she is said to own large swaths of Louisiana timberland, Ms. Spears is not a real estate tycoon in the classic Hollywood sense: she owns a house in a gated hilltop community near Mulholland Drive but listed it for sale a year ago at an asking price of $7.5 million, scarcely more than the $7.2 million she paid for it.
She sold a house in Malibu last summer for $10 million after paying $6.9 million for it in 2004, and she unloaded her Lower Manhattan condominium for $4 million in 2006, after buying it for $3 million in 2002.
Ms. Spears’s career first began to sputter after her last major tour was cut short, nearly four years ago. Based on the strength of her first two albums, “Baby One More Time” and “Oops! I Did It Again,” she received nearly a $10 million advance for her 2003 album “In the Zone” and a net earning of $6.5 million after production costs, according to reports published after her prenuptial agreement was leaked.
By contrast, she was paid $4 million for “Blackout,” her latest album, according to people briefed on her affairs, but she probably took home only a fraction of that for the album, which was more than a year in the making. Ms. Spears’s label, Jive Records, continues to promote singles from “Blackout,” without her active participation. (The recording industry has much experience with artists who have become incapacitated or unavailable or dead.)
But digital music has been punishing for performers like Ms. Spears, one of the last to sell more than 10 million copies of an album before the shift to downloads. The first two “Blackout” singles, “Gimme More” and “Piece of Me,” have sold a combined 1.54 million copies through digital services like iTunes, but industry experts say Ms. Spears might collect only $150,000 from that source.
Compared with touring, albums are loss-leaders for pop stars of her magnitude. Ms. Spears’s five major tours have sold some $140 million in tickets, according to PollStar, a music industry service. Her take, after deducting costs for arena rentals, equipment, crew and all those backup dancers, is much smaller.
The real money is made not from ticket sales but from the sale of T-shirts, key chains, dolls and countless other Britney-branded goods.
“It’s a gray area nobody ever focuses on,” said Steve Lunt, who oversaw Ms. Spears’s musical endeavors as a vice president at Jive until 2006. But, he said, merchandise revenue could be as much as or more than her share of ticket proceeds. “And that’s unadulterated profit margin.”
At her peak, Ms. Spears earned well over $12 million for endorsing companies like Toyota, Nabisco, Kirin beer, Sketchers, Clairol and McDonald’s; $9 million was from Pepsi alone. And Ms. Spears still gets at least $2 million to $3 million a year from a perfume deal she signed with Elizabeth Arden in 2004. The company continues to build on what it has made worldwide from three Britney perfume lines. There is particularly strong demand for them in Dubai, the company says.
While some of these deals remain in place, it is hard to imagine a company seeking her endorsement now except for pure shock value.
For now, the people around Ms. Spears are occupied with more basic questions — about how she will live, rather than whether she might perform again. Lawyers and her parents are trying to find the appropriate middle ground between confining Ms. Spears physically and allowing her too much freedom for her own good.
This is not an easy balance to strike, said one expert on conservatorships for the infirm, Marc B. Hankin, who at one point represented Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. “With good social support and good pharmacologists, you can help people come back to life, and a lot of people will never come back without that,” he said.
If Ms. Spears regains her health — and her desire to tour — will there still be an opportunity?
A return would require corporate sponsors, who for the moment would be likely to shun Ms. Spears but who might come around, according to Mr. Lunt, the record executive.
“My gut feeling is people will still want to be associated with her,” he said. “Everyone thinks there’s going to be a comeback at some point. You could mention her name in Afghanistan, Israel, Greece or South Africa, and everyone knows who she is. You can’t buy that.”
The people around Ms. Spears say she is not so far gone as a star. “She’s not someone who can’t put the tools back together and function,” said one such person, who because of a relationship with Ms. Spears spoke on the condition of anonymity.
“Because we’re so incredibly fickle as a society, the perfect entertainment is someone who’s in the bottomless pit and rising again,” the person said. “If she’s together, fit, beautiful and on her game, it’ll be just printing money.”

Is Britney Going Broke???

We may have another Michael Jackson on our hands!
The very respectable New York Times has written a very lengthy piece on the state of Britney Spears' financial affairs.
Once a top earner, the recovering mother of two is now grossly spending more than she's earning.
The Times paints her fortune as being "at risk."
Poor Brit. She just can't catch a break!
Spears' current financial state can't be solely blamed on ton many expenditures, though.

Happy Reunion

X17 XCLUSIVE - HAPPY REUNION!!!
So here's how the reunion went down:
The boys left Kevin Federline's at 9 am, driven by Lonnie, Kevin's bodyguard, in the gray Dodge Viper truck.
Per the legal agreement that Brit's dad Jamie helped craft and which was approved by Commissioner Scott Gordon late last night, the boys could visit Brit only if certain rules were followed.
The rules were: several people had to be with Briney and the boys while the visit took place only within the confines of her living room. The list of people included Jamie, a court-ordered monitor, a psychiatrist, KFed's security and a lawyer fromLuce-Forward who act as half of her conservator team.
Britney was not allowed to take the boys away from the common area, where the several observers were stationed. This requirement was in place because we all remember happened on January 3, when Britney took Jayden into her bathroom for three hours. Britney hadn't seen the boys since that day. She's had very infrequent phone chats with Sean and Jayden since then.
The visit was to last no more than three hours and, in fact, the boys left Britney's promptly at noon.
Jamie kept his promise! After weeks of legal haggling, he was able to get his daughter reunited with her kids -- kudos, Jamie!

Britney's Reunion - A Look Back

Britney's first visit with her sons in nearly six weeks may not have been as personal as she might have liked - but she looked so happy that we can't resist taking another look!
All the action started shortly after 8 AM, when we caught Kevin bundling up Sean and Jayden to be sent over to Britney's.
Once the boys arrived around 9 AM, Jamie quickly scooped them up and took them inside - to Britney' waiting arms!
Unfortunately, the terms of the visitation agreement reached by Jamie and Kevin kept Britney and the kids inside, under the watchful eyes of a whole team of folks - including her father Jamie, a court-ordered monitor, a psychiatrist, a member of Kevin's security team, and one of Britney's lawyers from her ongoing struggle over conservatorship.
The agreement was so strict, in fact, that Brit couldn't even leave the living room with the kids - we didn't see her again until we saw her bringing Jayden out to be taken back to Kevin's!
Despite all the restrictions, however, the boys' visit clearly did Britney a world of good - even from far away, you could see how happy having her boys back in her arms made her!
And we were relieved to see that all the restrictions weren't interfering with her relationship with her family - later that night, she stepped out with her father for dinner at Mastro's!
We've got more pix of the big reunion after the jump, too - make sure to check 'em out! Here they come!
The boys are back in town!
Too bad Sean and Jayden didn't get a chance to play on their playset...
...but it's fun to visit with mommy, too!

Daddy-Daughter Dinner Date!

We're used to seeing Britney Spears stepping out to grab a bite with a male companion - but we like it best when the companion in question happens to be her dad!
Yes, Britney and Jamie dined together at Mastro's Steakhouse last night. The dynamic duo kept it low-key, although they certainly appeared to be enjoying their time together - we even caught Britney grinning like the Cheshire Cat as she and Jamie left!
(It's probably a good thing Jamie was around, too - if for no other reason than to help save Britney from showing off more than intended when she got in the car in that hot little purple number!)
Britney got that purp!
Hot!
That dress is certainly on the way up...
Good thing Brit's got Jamie there to watch out for her!

Britney's Night Out with Dad

After a three-hour visit with her sons on Saturday (her first since Jan. 3), Britney Spears continued her family time Saturday night, stepping out to Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills with her father, Jamie. Just before 8 p.m., the pop star and her dad were joined by an assistant, a family friend and two bodyguards for dinner. Clad in a purple silk dress, Spears smiled and appeared in good spirits as she headed inside. "Britney looked stunning and everyone turned around to get a glimpse of her," says a witness at the restaurant, adding that the group lead Spears to a private dining room. "Everyone seemed extremely protective of Britney."The party of six dined on a seafood tower with lobster, steak, french fries and lobster mashed potatoes. But Spears's good mood seemed to diminish over dinner. According to an observer, "She seemed quiet." After numerous bathroom and cigarette breaks, Spears and co. left the restaurant around 9:30 p.m., making their way through a pack of photographers with the help of restaurant staff. Asked if he'd ever helped a celebrity exit the restaurant, a chef told PEOPLE, "Never! It was like being in a war zone. I almost lost my [chef's] hat."

Good Samaritan Adnan Visits Britney

After having dinner with her father Jaime at Maestro’s steakhouse last night, Britney’s boyfriend Adnan showed up at The Summit for a visit with Britney. What a great day for Britney yesterday. She started out by spending some time with her two boys, then dinner with her Father and ends it off with a visit with her man.
Now I’m sure you’re wondering why I called Adnan a good Samaritan and I’m here to tell you. Earlier Saturday evening, I received a call from Adnan. He had just witnessed an accident on the 101 freeway near Lewis Road in Calabasas, Ca. A red BMW had careened on the freeway and flipped over a couple times and landed upside down. Adnan pulled over and had to smash through the one of the windows to help pull the driver out. Adnan stayed with the injured driver until police arrived, who took his statement before advising him to leave the scene as the rainy driving conditions would be too dangerous for him to stick around any longer.
Now if anyone knows the driver or if you’re the driver, Adnan wants to know how you’re doing. Please email me at ronnie [at] jfxonline [.] com and I’ll pass along your message to Adnan. And please, all you jokesters out there, just keep sending your bogus emails and tips to the other blogs and not me! Thanks.
Check out more pics of Britney leaving Maestro’s below. As far as I know, no photogs were arrested.

Brit and Boys: Reunited!

Reunited and it feels so good for Britney Spears and her boys.
For the first time in nearly two months, the beleaguered pop star had face-to-face contact with sons Sean Preson and Jayden James, during a Saturday morning, court-monitored visit, sources confirm to E! News.
The boys, who have primarily resided at Federline's home in Tarzana since October, were packed into his gray Dodge Viper truck by a bodyguard and shuttled to Spears' home on the Studio City/Beverly Hills border around 9 a.m.
The visit is scheduled to last until noon.
Aside from Spears and a court-appointed monitor, there are several other key personnel on hand, including: Britney's father, Jamie Spears; a Federline security guard; and a lawyer from the Luce Forward law firm, which is handling Britney's conservatorship for Jamie Spears.
According to an insider, the 26-year-old pop star cannot take the boys, ages two and one, into another room without the others watching.
The ground rules for the visitation were hammered out Friday night, by lawyers for Luce Forward and ex-husband Kevin Federline.
"None of this would have happened if Jamie Spears had not been involved. That's for sure," Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! News Friday. "He gets a lot of credit for helping make this happen. But we've worked very hard with the conservator lawyers, as well, to make this all work."
Federline has had sole custody since October, and Spears hasn't seen Sean and Jayden since Jan. 3, after she refused to allow Federline's bodyguard to pick up the boys after one of her monitored visits and she ended up under observation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The troubles songstress was stripped of her visitation privileges and has only been allowed to contact the boys by phone.

Danja talks about working with Britney

Keri Hilson was saying because Britney wouldn’t open up about her own personal experiences, it made it tougher to write for her. Did you find that it made it harder for you as well?It wasn’t hard for me in the creative process with Britney because I was totally left to do pretty much whatever I wanted to. If she felt it, she was gonna ride with it. If she didn’t, you’d see it in her face. I don’t think she needed to open up. She did have one record where she’s mentioning certain things, but it’s in a clever kind of way, not necessarily pouring her heart out. We’ve known Britney for entertaining, dancing and giving you a sexy record, getting you moving. And that’s what we did. Unfortunately, she’s in the state that she’s in, but the music speaks for itself. In the studio she was dancing, laughing in the booth. She gave the right type of energy. That’s all that matters.Did it disappoint you that the public didn’t respond as well to her VMA performance as they did to the actual “Gimme More” song?It didn’t bother me until nine months down the line. I was like, "I wish she could’ve really nailed that performance ‘cause that really would have set it off." It was still top five [on the Billboard] Hot 100. I didn’t think the performance was really that big of a deal. She looked a little spaced-out. To me it looked like she was completely nervous. She hadn’t been on stage in I don’t know how long. During the performance, I was watching like, "Just give me that one pop to let me know you back." And it never happened. I was rooting for her regardless. At the end of “Gimme More,” you were talking on the record. What prompted that?[Laughs.] I just felt like I needed to say something. People haven’t really seen me or heard my voice, and that was one of my first solo productions. So I definitely had to stake my claim. There's a lot riding on my future, because people think I’m around because of Tim and they don’t really know what I’m capable of. After we mixed that record, I just knew that record was crazy. Period. We got all these hit records and I haven’t got any on my own. Well, here’s one.Has all the drama overshadowing Britney’s project and Duran Duran's lackluster sales had any affect on you?It definitely weighed on me. At one particular point last year, I felt like, "Man, I did all this work, and it ain’t pop like it’s supposed to pop." I was down for a little bit. It wasn’t that I wasn’t proud of my work. It’s just things with the business that sometimes happen that affect your music. You could put your all into the music, and it’s some executive decision that ruined it. I don’t count it as a failure. It’s just a lesson learned. In the Britney case, every producer, songwriter or arranger on that record did their thing. The record label did their thing. That was just something uncontrollable on her part. Duran Duran [is] an old group, [and] a lot of people are not familiar with them. Not saying that it’s over for them. It’s just a matter of reintroducing them.Credit:

Breaking News: Britney Regains Visitation Rights

In what OK! has learned was a deal more than a week in the making, a judge has ruled that Britney Spears will once again receive visitation rights with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Under the ruling, Britney can see her boys in a "theraputic setting"--meaning, among other stipulations, that Jamie Spears and Brit's psychiatrist must be present. Kevin Federline is reportedly on board with the commissioner's decision and is, along with lawyers for both sides, impressed at Jamie's ability to quiet the whirlwind surrounding Britney's life.K-fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan tells OK! exclusively that today's ruling would never have happened if Jamie hadn't stepped in to stabilize his daughter.
"Obviously this wouldn’t have happened if Jamie Spears wasn’t involved but there’s much more to it than those two people being present,” Kaplan tells OK! exclusively. "Let’s just say that my partner Jim Simon and I put lots of specific terms, conditions and protections in place that go far beyond those two people being present."So how soon will Britney get to see her boys? "Britney very, very soon will be seeing her boys again," Kaplan tell OK!. "At the moment we are waiting for the orders to be signed and faxed by the judge and assuming that we receive that tonight, visitation will happen very quickly.”

As Britney Spears receives treatment for bipolar disorder and struggles to regain custody of her two sons, Us Weekly spoke to a young mother afflicted with the same mental illness to offer insight into the singer's life.
“Carol” (not her real name) was a wild, uncontrollable 18-year-old when she became a mother. But after some manic episodes (including joyriding with her infant son in a car), she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Carol soon decided to give up her baby, then 18 months, to family friends for adoption.
Now 28, the Idaho resident — who says she’s doing “really well” and still has contact with her nine-year-old boy — tells Us her story:
"The thing that made me think Britney might have bipolar was that I recognized the look on her face, I've had that look before. It's the eyes, there's kind of a wildness. It looks like her mind's going really fast and I'm sure that she went through the same thing with the racing thoughts that I did and I could see the change in her from day to day, being up then being down.
“I had ADD as a child and wasn't diagnosed bipolar until I was 18. As a teenager, I didn't know what was wrong with me. It felt very hard to fit in because I had these mood swings and went through periods where I didn't want to see anybody and all of my friends would think that I had dropped them. It wasn't that, it was just that I couldn't handle being around people because of the depression or whatever else I was going through. Then there would be periods where I was the social butterfly at every party and on the phone all the time and it was difficult in school because a lot of times I would come across as being on drugs because I was manic. I'd talk too loud and get too energetic and it would freak my teachers out. My mother thought I was on drugs when I wasn't.
"When I was depressed I slept too much and had a really poor self image. That's the other thing, when I was manic or hyper-manic I had an inflated ego. You feel like you're the prettiest, smartest girl in the room and then when you're depressed, you feel like you're the ugliest, dumbest girl in the room.
"When Britney shaved her hair or got married to her childhood friend, I can relate to that. It's a manic impulsivity. You can think something's a great idea and you just immediately do it and then two hours later, you go, 'oh my god, what did I do?' I never slept with strangers but I did with friends, just on a whim. I would be drunk and it would just happen. I would go through long periods of celibacy, then a two-month phase where I'd sleep with four people, which is a lot for me. I felt more attractive during those times, I had a sense of immortality, that nothing that I did was going to affect the future. You just really live in the moment. You don't think abouttomorrow. Two weeks later, I would beat myself up over it. At one point, I was going to sell my car and move to New Orleans and be a stripper. Luckily my parents talked me out of it!
"I also couldn't empathize with other people at all because I was so wrapped up in my illness, so I would get into arguments with people a lot. I had some friends who were very patient who have put up with a lot from me. I remember screaming at my best friend for about 30 minutes straight and calling her all kinds of awful names, when if the same thing had happened now I would have just told her she had upset me.
"I would also sneak out of the house and I was dating this guy in high school who had tattoos all over him, my parents hated him! My parents hate tattoos and piercings and when I turned 18 I pierced my tongue, thinking they wouldn't notice. Of course they did, I don't know what I was thinking.
"There was a lot of drug abuse too. I was a heavy pot smoker from when I was 14 until 21. I also dabbled in cocaine and ecstasy, acid and mushrooms. Thepot was because of the insomnia, it was the only way I could sleep, and the cocaine was to try and lift me out of the depression.
"I also find it hard to read people and choose people who are bad for me. I was friends with this woman for three years until about a year ago. She seemed very conservative and sensible, but she was actually an alcoholic and sex addict. The one thing about bad people being friends with bad people is that they won't let go of you.
“I understand why Britney was spending time with Sam Lutfi. Controlling people are attractive because you feel lost when you're un-medicated. It seems like 'oh he's got all the answers, he'll take care of me.'
"My son's father was very controlling too. Slowly I wasn't allowed to talk to my friends and then eventually I wasn't even allowed to speak to my mother. He was also addicted to drugs, which I didn't realize. I was with the boyfriend before him for five years and he was the same way, he had to control everything.
"Giving up my son was so hard. I still get a lot of people who judge me for that, especially as he was 18 months old at the time, but I had realized I wasn't stable enough and his father wasn't in the picture. It was also hard to empathize with what the baby wanted. It's not that you don't care. A lot of times, my son would want to go outside and play and I couldn't take him because I was so depressed I couldn't move. It's not that I didn't want to, it was that I physically couldn't.
"My son is much better off. But if I were to have a child now I wouldn't be afraid of being a parent because I know that I'm stable enough now. Of course I love my son and I wish that I could have kept him, but probably the sanest decision I made at that point was to give him up for adoption. I didn't have the economic advantage of being able to hire nannies and have other people around.
“Also with Britney, Kevin Federline seems to have gone out of his way to clean up his act and be a good father and my son didn't have that with his dad.
"I think Britney will be able to cope with having her kids back again. The thing about bipolar disorder is if you're being treated you will never go that far down again. She can afford the best doctors in the world but the real trick is going to be finding the right medication for her, which could take five years. I just happen to have found the right cocktail for me.
“I'm on the newest medication called Lamictal and it's worked wonders. It's a mood stabilizer with antidepressant qualities and you don't gain tons of weight like you did with the old medications.
"I think Britney can make it, but once you get your mind stabilized, you have to pick up the shambles of your life that are left around you, so it'll take her a while to fix that. I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be a good mother, it's obvious she loves her children."

Alli Sims on Britney Spears: "Everyone Goes Through Weird Patches"

Alli Sims says she is still talking to cousin Britney Spears.
"I cannot really say much more about [her], but she is doing well," Sims told Usmagazine.com at the Montblanc Oscar Brunch at Casey Johnson's Villa in Beverly Hills last night.
Spears has been involuntarily hospitalized twice to treat her bipolar disorder. She is currently under the supervision of her parents (her father was granted legal, financial, and medical control of her life) and hasn't seen her two sons since January 3.
"Everybody just keeps supporting her and rooting [for] her because everyone kind of goes through weird little patches in [their] life," Sims told Us.
"You just need friends and family and everyone to support you and help you through it, and everything will be okay."
Sims, who is working on her first album, says she and Spears "will definitely collaborate on something."
"I think we are kind of both open to anything," Sims said. "We are really good friends, we are really close, and we really love working on stuff together, so I think that possibly something like that could happen."
Sims lived with Spears for eight months last year and previously told Us, "I wish people would give her a break and lay off her."

Commish Puts Britney on Hold

Britney Spears is currently neither here nor there.
At a brief hearing Friday regarding Jamie Spears' conservatorship status, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz said the case was in "a holding pattern" until a federal judge determines whether there's cause to move the proceedings to U.S. District Court.
"There's nothing for the court to do today," Goetz, who earlier this week extended the temporary control over Britney's estate until Mar. 10, said after Spears' legal camp briefed her on the parallel proceedings. "We are in a holding pattern until the district court decides which jurisdiction should continue with the case."
When Jamie Spears' attorneys offered to hand over copies of all documents filed so far in federal court, Goetz said, "You keep them. I want to keep the line of demarcation clear so no one thinks I'm overstepping my bounds."
U.S. District Court Judge Philip Gutierrez is planning to review arguments from both sides on Monday.
First there's Jamie Spears and coconservator Andrew Wallet, who called the transfer request a "brazen—but vain—attempt to strip a probate court of jurisdiction." And then there's New York-based attorney Jon Eardley, who had his (and Sam Lutfi's) publicist file the petition and who may or may not be legitimately acting on Britney's behalf.
Papa Spears' side will continue to argue that, because Britney was previously found to be unfit to hire her own attorneys, Eardley's hiring is bogus and any motion he filed in connection with the conservatorship case is invalid.
Late Thursday, Gutierrez approved Jamie's request to extend until Mar. 17 a temporary restraining order against Britney's self-proclaimed protector, Sam Lutfi, who was finally served yesterday, a day before the order was set to expire, after successfully dodging process servers for three weeks. (View the documents.)
"Despite our very best efforts, and I mean our very best, Mr. Lutfi did not surface until after the deadline had passed," attorney Geraldine Wyle said in court, explaining why Lutfi wasn't served at least 48 hours before the order expired.
But although they managed to keep Lutfi away, regardless, Jamie's legal team from the firm of Luce Forward said they would prefer the case stay in L.A. Superior Court because "the federal process doesn't really suit a conservatorship."

Britney Gets Visitation Of Her Kids!

"We're pleased that … the process of reinstating the children's mother as a participant in their lives can commence," Kevin Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said on Friday.
He added that Britney would "very soon" be allowed to see Tater Tot and Small Fry.
This is such a good thing!!!
Spears is finally getting her life back in order and we are so happy for her. And so is Federline.
The man who once was considered the bad guy is anything but. K-Fed didn't have to allowed Brit Brit any visitation. It wasn't court-mandated. But he and his lawyers worked with Britney's dad, Jamie, and her attorneys to make sure they could reach an agreement that would keep everyone happy, especially those two kids.
We are cautiously optimistic that this good progress Britney has made these last few weeks will continue. We hope it does. She still has more work to do on her path towards health and happiness.
But this is a very encouraging step in that direction!

Served and Extended

Not only was Osama Lutfi finally served with his restraining order against Britney Spears yesterday, but a judge verified that the court order was valid.
AND, the same judge extended the order late Thursday.
Osama can't phone, text, email or get near Brit Brit or her home until March 17th - at which point the restraining order can and hopefully will get extended again.
We look forward to no longer writing about Shady Sam, just like we've stopped mentioning this loser!
Britney has been so much better without Lutfi in her life. Dontcha think???

The Latest on Britney's Conservatorship

In the latest hearing today regarding Britney Spears' conservatorship, the judge stated that the case is now in a "holding pattern," because it is currently in the hands of the federal court.
Federal court Judge Gutierrez is expected to rule next week on whether the conservatorship should be moved to federal court. There will be no hearing and it is expected that the request, to be filed today by Britney's advocate Jon Eardley, will be denied. The case will thus be returned to superior court. Even so, Jamie Spears, Britney's father and conservator, has until Monday to respond to the request.
It was also noted that Sam Lutfi has finally been served with his temporary restraining order, which the federal judge extended to March 17, when Sam is expected to appear in court.

Brit Gets To Visit Babies

Wonderful news in Britney land today. Ms. Spears will get to see her babies after almost eight weeks of no contact. I know Kevin has approved of this and wants Brit back in the boys’ lives. Sean Preston and Jayden James will get to see their momma. There are stipulations, though. The structured visits will have to be in a therapeutic setting and she will have to take her dad Jamie, along with her psychiatrist. Lawyers for both sides finally hashed out an agreement. I’m wondering how much money Brit and Kevin have paid in legal fees. Anyway, it’s good that Brit’s dad has stayed put and kept her pretty leveled. Hopefully seeing her kids will give her even more incentive to get better.

Chief Bratton Don't Play...

Wow, I guess L.A. Police Chief William Bratton is not dancing to ‘Gimme Some More.’ He was on a local radio show (KPCC - 89.3 FM) this morning and had some choice words regarding our Britney. His comments stemmed from a question asked by the radio host about new laws regarding paparazzis. Here’s what he had to say and he’s not mincing words, this one:

“What we need is for Britney Spears to stay home instead of traipsing all over town. That would solve the problem. We don’t need additional laws…I’ve got laws coming out my ears to deal with this issue. What you have is several young women in this town and several young men basically making fools of themselves and tying up not only my resources but the resources of the media that would do better covering legitimate stories instead of a bunch of airheads running around out there…Quite clearly some of these characters so favored by the paparazzi are clearly in need of services. Not police services, but psychiatric services.”
Well, alrighty then.

Brit’s Family Relieved

According to a close family source, Britney’s mom and dad are both extremely relieved and happy that Sam Lutfi was finally served his restraining order. A judge also extended the restraining order until March 17, when the hearing is scheduled. Also in other Britney news, there were reports last night that Adnan was caught going on a date behind Britney’s back. Well, the woman Adnan was out to dinner with last night is none other than his business partner. I hope Brit didn’t believe all the rumors. It really is hard dating in the public eye, isn’t it?

Sam Lutfi Further Restrained

Sam Lutfi has finally been served—and how.
A federal judge extended the restraining order preventing Britney Spears' once-constant companion from approaching the star until Mar. 17, according to court documents filed late Thursday.
U.S. District Court Judge Philip Gutierrez granted the extension at the request of Jamie Spears, whose conservatorship over Britney's estate has been prolonged until at least Mar. 10.
After somehow managing to duck process servers for the last three weeks, Lutfi became officially obligated to act in accordance with the restraining order at about 11 a.m. as he was leaving his Los Angeles apartment.
The order, originally set to expire after 21 days, requires that he stay at least 250 yards away from Britney and any of her properties.
Jamie and Lynne Spears moved to keep Lutfi away from their daughter on Feb. 1, the day after he helped arrange for her to be committed to UCLA Medical Center's psych ward for evaluation. The two sides have been sparring via spokespeople and lawyers ever since, with Britney seemingly torn between the two.
While she was spotted shopping and running errands with Lynne and dining with Jamie, sources close to the situation have said that she's sick and tired of her dad's interference and is looking to extract herself from his legal grip as soon as possible.
In their request for a restraining order, which was granted Feb. 1, Britney's parents alleged that Lutfi had been plying the troubled songstress with pills and otherwise scheming to control her life.
"He has cut Britney's home phone line and removed her cell phone chargers," the motion stated. "He yells at her. He claims to control everything—Britney's business manager, her attorneys, and the security guards at the gate."
Hearings concerning both the restraining order and attorney Jon Eardley's motion to have the conservator case moved to federal court—a move supposedly orchestrated by Lutfi with Britney's blessing—have been set for Mar. 17. Documents providing a good reason for transferring the case have to be filed by Feb. 29.

Lutfi's rep had challenged today's service of process, but the judge said no problemo. The judge has already indicated the case is headed back to state court. Lutfi has other problems. As TMZ first reported, LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division is investigating Lutfi for allegedly drugging Brit.
