Transcript of Larry Rudolph on Showbiz Tonight

RUDOLPH: To go see a Britney Spears show with her, you know, back in her prime and doing what she does best, at this point, I can`t imagine a hotter ticket.

ANDERSON: That`s Britney Spears` former manager, Larry Rudolph, telling SHOWBIZ TONIGHT that Britney Spears is in position for the biggest comeback in history.

Welcome back to SHOWBIZ TONIGHT, TV`s most provocative entertainment news show. I`m Brooke Anderson. Tonight, a SHOWBIZ TONIGHT exclusive interview with Britney Spears` former manager, Larry Rudolph. Now, Larry was right by Britney`s side throughout her massive worldwide success. But the two suddenly parted ways over a year ago just as Britney`s troubles were just getting started.

Now Larry, who is currently a judge on the hit MTV show "Rock the Cradle," is back in her life and says that she`s doing better than ever.

I sat down with Larry, and we talked about what it was like for him to watch Britney fall and why he thinks she could come back bigger than ever.

ANDERSON (on camera): You really are known to have been the backbone of her career. And then you parted ways. It was said that you wanted to get her help. You wanted to get her into rehab. But then you parted ways. The downfall began, the head shaving, the VMA performance, the psych ward. Were you shaking your head in disbelief? Because you`ve been there; you`ve helped her all through the years.

RUDOLPH: Yes. You know, it was a difficult time, there`s no doubt about it. It was difficult for me to watch. I think it was difficult for everybody to watch who knew her. But she`s really strong, and she`s smart, and she`s pulling it together now in a great way. And I`m really happy to see it.

I mean - You know, look. Everybody goes through their rough times. And she went through a very rough time, and hopefully the roughest time she`ll ever have. I really see - I`ve been spending a little bit of time with her nonprofessionally.

I`ve just been spending some time with her over the past few weeks. And she`s been doing great like she`s in a much, much different place. And I think that`s all passed, and that`s all behind her.

ANDERSON: You know, on your MySpace page, it`s flooded with postings from people saying, "Larry, please help Britney. We need the old Britney back. Is she all right?" And you`re saying she is. And she`s going to come back stronger than ever.

RUDOLPH: Yes, I do believe that. I mean, look, the jury`s - the jury`s still out - I mean, it`s not there yet. I mean, be clear. You know, she`s well on her way. I mean, like, you know, I`m very, very happy with where she is now. I`ve had great conversations with her. She`s in a much different place than the last time I saw her.

You know, I hadn`t seen her in a year. And I had been watching what everybody else had been watching. And it was rough. And now it`s a lot better. A lot better.

ANDERSON: You said she could make the biggest comeback in history.

RUDOLPH: Right.

ANDERSON: How big do you think? And you have a lot of faith in her, don`t you?

RUDOLPH: Well, think about it. I mean, ultimately, if she - if it`s what she wants, and if she decides that she wants to get back into the recording studio, get back on a stage and put that all on again. If that`s the life that she wants and she gets back on a stage, for instance, think about what that would be.

To go see a Britney Spears show with her, you know, back in her prime and doing what she does best, at this point, I can`t imagine a hotter ticket in terms of a touring ticket. I mean, there`s no show that I`d rather see. You know, I think a lot of fans agree with that.

ANDERSON: A lot of fans would pay to see that, I`m sure. But what`s your strategy? Do you have a three-point plan to help her get back to where she can be?

RUDOLPH: There`s no strategy right now. There`s no business being discussed, and that`s the best way for now. It`s not about that right now. It`s not about business. It`s not about whether she makes another album, whether she goes on tour. Anything, I`m just talking, you know, what if.

Right now, it`s just about her sort of, you know, getting it back together, getting back to where she needs to be in her life, not her career.

Thursday April 17th: Britney Spears was once again back at the studios late night escorted by her security team. Some paps not X17 of course got a little restless and the police was called to tame the photogs, perhaps like the guy wearing the monster mask. After Britney’s recording session she waved to our cameras.

More lawsuits

As word leaks that Spears blew $60 million in the last year, Johnny Wright, Spears' former manager (and current Timberlake co-manager), is looking to collect on an old debt.Despite a management contract signed in 1999, which entitles Wright Entertainment Group (WEG) to royalties and commissions through February 20, 2008, Spears quit paying in December 2006, and Wright sued in 2007. Since then, she's put out two albums, Greatest Hits/My Prerogative and Blackout. However, exactly how much she owes isn't even known, says Clay Townsend, Wright's attorney in Orlando, Florida. The total bill "cannot be determined without an accounting (getting records of what she made from different sources—merchandise, etc)." And Spears and her reps have ignored Wright and Townsend's requests for financials."We are disappointed she never responded to our lawsuit only because such matters proceed more smoothly with an orderly exchange of documents," Townsend tells Radar, adding that Spears defaulted last year, long before the game of musical chairs with her representatives, lawyers, boyfriends, and money managers. As for his client, Wright, Townsend says, "Johnny has expressed publicly his regrets for what she is going through, but we have simply not received accounting and payments from her organization for quite some time, not just during the recent chaos."Source: RadarMagazine.com

Britney Spears Gets More “How I Met Your Mother”

Ever since she showed up on “How I Met Your Mother” we haven’t stopped hearing about how much the cast, crew, and audience loved Britney Spears as a sitcom actress. So it’s not a surprise that the “Piece of Me” songstress is making her way back to the CBS set to have another go at the hit show.An inside source told press, “The show is ecstatic and so is Britney. She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more.”Spears originally appeared on “How I Met Your Mother” back on March 24th, playing a receptionist at a dermatologist’s office who fell for Josh Radnor’s character. Another cast member, Jason Segal, told press, “She was hilarious in the table-read, and I got to see her do the run-through as well, and she was great.”

Lynne Gives Britney A Surprise Shower

Britney Spears' mother Lynne may want the paps to cool it around her daughter - but she might need to try another approach!First, we caught up with Brit as her assistant returned from Starbucks run before heading over to the gym. (Hey, gotta get some energy before you hit the treadmill, right?) We noticed Brit was wearing a white shirt with a pair of hot pink pants; we thought she looked cute as a button - but apparently, Britney thought otherwise, because her next stop was Niketown!Inside, Brit met up with Lynne and picked out some new workout threads - specifically a blue top and some black pants. Lynne picked up a few bottles of water while she was there, too - we know because Lynne came out trying to squirt 'em on the paps! The only problem? Lynne's aim was a little off - and she only managed to soak Britney!Britney naturally shrieked in protest at being splashed and hustled back into the car. Luckily, Britney and Lynne had made up by the time they got to Ballys - in fact, they ended up working out together! (Hey, we're not surprised Britney didn't hold her mother's squirts against her - after all, she's probably used to it by now!)

Brit's Lawyers Say "Pay Up!"

Britney Spears' conservators were back in court again on Thursday afternoon, where they discussed among other things, the subject of payment.Commissioner Goetz agreed to advance Andrew Wallet, Sam Ingham, and attorneys for the conservators exactly half the money they are expected to bill for. Ingham, Brit's court appointed attorney will be getting $10,000 a week through July 31. Co-conservator Wallet gets $100,000 and the Luce Forward law firm will get $175,000--and that's just for work done through March 31.Clark Byam, another attorney, will get $22,500. Stacy Phillips, the lawyer repping Brit in the family law case, will get $75,000--also for work through March 31.Meanwhile, Comm. Goetz once again struck down a March 17 filing by Jon Eardley to present, 'on record,' the declaration of retired UCLA Law professor William McGovern. Eardley still claims he is working for Britney and that the current conservatorship is violating her civil rights.

Britney Spears hides behind a blanket!

Life has changed much for Britney Spears who, from routinely flashing her crotch sans panties during late night forays to night clubs, has now resorted to hiding behind blankets, as she did Thursday, April 17, when she visited a salon in West Hollywood, Ca. The change in her lifestyle is for the good. Ironically, even a change for the good can cost a packet these days. LA Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz, who is overseeing Britney's conservatorship, ruled Thursday that she needs to pay nearly $400,000 to the numerous lawyers that have been minding her affairs. While $400,000 may not be an unnerving expense for the pop star, whose assets are estimated at around $100 million, the fact that it covers just three months of her conservatorship is probably not lost on Britney, who continues to pull her life together. On Wednesday evening, April 16, Britney was seen visiting a recording studio, for the third day in a row, suggesting that a professional comeback is on the cards. She has also been working out regularly. More gratifying than her visits to the studio and gym is the quite time she has been spending at home, some of it with her toddlers.

Big Payday for Lawyers in Britney Spears Case

A Los Angeles court on Thursday ordered payment of nearly $400,000 to the numerous lawyers involved in Britney Spears's affairs – with the pop star footing the bill. All the attorneys have been working on the case for less than three months. Samuel Ingham, Spears's court-appointed attorney, will continue to receive $10,000 a week, Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled.Andrew Wallet, the co-conservator of Spears's finances, will receive an advance of $100,000. (Wallet had not been paid since becoming involved last February.). The firm which won Jamie Spears control of his daughter's affairs will also be advanced $175,000, and a lawyer representing Britney's brother Bryan Spears will get $22,500, while Stacy Phillips, Britney's new divorce lawyer, will receive $75,000. The singer's father and Wallet remain in control of her life until a July 31 hearing.
