Justin Timberlake Calls Britney Spears A Wannabe

Justin Timberlake took a few jabs at his former flame Britney Spears when introducing Madonna at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on Monday."She has still found time to kiss someone I may or may not have publicly kissed myself while I was in the audience” Timberlake said. “Of course you know I was talking about Sean Penn."Madonna was inducted into Hall of Fame at a dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.Timberlake punctuated his remarks with, "The world has always been full of Madonna wannabes and I might have even dated a couple."The 49-year-old pop star strode on stage, thanking people who had helped her career as well as her family and fans.

Neil Patrick Harris Talks About Britney Spears' New Role

Kevin Frazier and Neil Patrick Harris dish on Britney Spears' upcoming TV role.
Earlier today, ET confirmed that BRITNEY SPEARS was signed to make a guest appearance on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother." Now, ET's KEVIN FRAZIER gets the 411 from series star NEIL PATRICK HARRIS on the role the pop princess will play.
"I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting," Neil tells Kevin. "She hasn't acted in a while. This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters. She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted [JOSH RADNOR] is after. So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently."
Neil also says that the cast and crew of "Mother" are not gearing up for an onslaught by the paparazzi, because they do not film on location, but rather on the FOX lot.
He does kid around, however, floating a theory that the pop princess may secretly be a tabloid headline mastermind!"
"What if she shows up on set and she is absolutely, totally normal and that whole thing has been a big ruse?" he jokes. "She is smoking a cigarette and [says], 'Oh yes, it is all a big bit. I have a master plan.'"

Britney Faces Two Psych Evaluations

Britney Spears' conservatorship hearing has concluded, after a physician's report on the singer's status was submitted and attorney Samuel Ingham gave the court an update on her well-being.
Brit faces not one but two psychiatric evaluations in May, as both the probate court (where her conservatorship case is heard) and family court have requested one. The family court will hear the results on May 6, while the probate court will go over an evaluation on the 29th.
Otherwise, lawyers for all sides are expected back on April 17 to discuss a matter near and dear to their hearts, attorneys' fees. Two new lawyers were approved to be brought on for Brit's issues: Jorge Hernandez, who will serve as a consultant for matters on the conservatorship (at $25,000) and Tom Hansen, an entertainment lawyer who will receive $15,000 a month.

Britney Spears Pregnancy Fears

Is Britney Spears pregnant again? The pop starlet that once dominated the radio and concert world has been spotted out and about in Los Angeles sporting what many believe is a suspicious bump and reports are that it just might be Adnan Ghalib's baby. None of this is new as the pair were photographed earlier this year purchasing pregnancy testsThey said it was a joke at that time but recent tabloid reports have claimed that the photographer has bragged to his pals that Britney is pregnant with his child. That same report claimed that he was very happy about it and believed that he had hit the jackpot. The evidence is a bit flimsy and there is another report that Britney has dumped her paparazzo boyfriend Adnan. Star Magazine went to the trouble of bringing in an expert to review the recent photos of Britney and her bump. "In my opinion, I would say yes Britney is pregnant," says Cheryl Perlis, M.D., a Chicago-based gynecologist and obstetrician to Star Magazine. They point out that the doctor has not treated Britney. The story notes that if Britney is pregnant with Adnan's baby they might just get back together. But mom and dad couldn't be happier if Britney is not preggers and she is indeed finished with Adnan.

K-Fed and Jamie Spears Chat Inside Court

Kevin Federline and Jamie Spears (the conservator for daughter Britney) are back in an L.A. court today for another custody hearing. The pair played golf together over the weekend and were chatting and smiling with each other before the hearing. Jamie arrived at the court house with two briefcases, while Kevin was wearing a suit and a pinkie ring.
Today's proceedings are expected to deal with a disputed invoice given to K-Fed by his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan. As part of an earlier agreement in the prolonged custody battle between K-Fed and Britney, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled that Britney would cover all of her ex-husband's legal bills.Jamie has disputed a $500,000 bill from Kaplan, and will also be disputing a $600,000 bill from Britney's former attorney Sorrel Trope. New attorney Stacy Phillips is representing Jamie.

Britney's Lawyer: "Ms. Spears is Not a Checkbook"

The gloves came off in an L.A. court with Britney Spears' lawyer arguing with Kevin Federline's lawyer over skyrocketing legal fees arising from the former couple's bitter custody battle.Britney Spears' new lawyer Stacy Phillips argued that K-Fed's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan's fees are excessive, saying that four months of fees for both sides add up to a whopping $900,000. Additionally, she argued that Kevin has the ability to pay for his own lawyer (the current agreement stipulates that Britney Spears pays for all of her ex-husband's legal fees), saying, "Ms. Spears is not an open checkbook."After the Phillips said that Kaplan's fees should be in the "$150,000-$175,000 range," she attacked Kevin, saying he has not separated his personal and business expenses, and revealed that his ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson has use of his business credit card and is using it for personal purposes. She went on to say that K-Fed recently spent $20,000 on jewelry, went out to dinner and paid a $2000 tip on a $300 bill.

Court to Discuss PERMANENT CONSERVATORSHIP???

One of the most shocking revelations to come out of today's hearing is that when Jamie's temporary conservatorship expires on July 31st, the court will hear arguments that same day regarding a permanent conservatorship.A 730 psychological evaluation is being presented today -- Britney's medical/psychological evaluation that was ordered by the court. This may be the reason the permanent conservatorship is being discussed today. In other words -- Britney's psychological condition is NOT temporary. But the "permanent" designation might sound a bit more significant than it could be. Jamie Spears, along with his attorney, was named the temporary conservator for Britney because they went to the court in an emergency situation to ask for control over Brit's affairs. It is normal court procedure that if the condition that made the conservatorship necessary is not resolved by the end of the temporary conservatorship, that a permanent conservator must be named. This position would be dissolved should Britney become healthy again to the point of court-appointed psychologists labeling her as no longer a danger to herself or others. That said, a temporary conservator can't make any long-term decisions that may conflict with a permanent conservator's potential plans. For example, Jamie couldn't have made real estate transactions in Britney's name but he would be able to as a permanent conservator. It was revealed in court today that entertainment attorney Jorge Hernandez-Torano of Holland & Knight in Miami, was retained to head up Britney's $17 million audit of her accounts with Jive Records.I spoke with Mr. Hernandez-Torano and, after a long pause, he told me:"I cannot not confirm or deny my firm's representation of Ms. Spears."

Britney Spears' Lawyer: K-Fed Can Pay His Own Legal Fees

A lawyer for Britney Spears argued in L.A. court Monday that the singer's ex Kevin Federline should pay his own legal fees.
The court had previously ruled that Spears, 27, has to pay Federline's counsel Mark Vincent Kaplan "reasonable" attorney's fees.
But her attorney Stacy Phillips told a Los Angeles court commissioner that the singer currently pays Kaplan $500,000 when he is only entitled to $150,000 to $175,000.
Federline, 29, Phillips said, should foot the bill. She mentioned how the rapper once tipped $2,000 on a $365 bill while out dining.
"If he is willing to tip someone $2,000, then he should be willing to pay the lawyer bills," Phillips said. "Mr. Federline needs to take responsibility for the very diligent work they do on his behalf."
Kaplan, meanwhile, argued that he is worth the price due to the complicated nature of the custody case.
"Our fees for the experience and expertise for the practice level are far under market for the package you get when you hire me," he said. "This is not a simple custody case."
The court commissioner requested that Spears be given a temporary debit or credit card so she "can have spending money or freedom of choice of how she wants to enjoy herself." She will be alloted $1500 per week. Spears' father Jamie was also granted his request to lease a car.
Both Federline and Spears' father (and co-conservator) Jamie — who went golfing together over the weekend — were present for the hearing.
"Mr. Federline answered two or three questions very cryptically and Jamie Spears was a little more elaborate," court spokesperson Allan Parachini said in a statement.
"The judge has taken the fees arguments under consideration."

Judge Rules: Britney Gets $1,500 Allowance

Britney Spears is getting an allowance. The pop star, who is worth an estimated $100 million, has been approved for a $1,500-a-week allowance on a debit card, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled Monday. In addition, Goetz approved the hiring of two specialist attorneys to help the singer and her lawyers sort out her affairs while Spears is under a temporary co-conservatorship.One, Jorge Hernandez, will get a $25,000 retainer to be an around-the-clock consultant on all questions pertaining to the co-conservatorship. The other, lawyer Tom Hansen, will receive $15,000 a month for his services as an entertainment lawyer consulting on Spears's entertainment deals and contracts. The ruling comes the same day as a separate hearing in which lawyers for Spears said that her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, should take responsibility for some of his legal bills in the former couple's ongoing custody battle. The question of who will pay the legal fees "is under submission," according to court spokesman Allan Parachini. "When the judge will rule, I don't know."

Britney's Role On How I Met Your Mother

In another move highlighting her continued recovery, Britney Spears is set to make a cameo on the hit CBS sitcom, How I met Your Mother. The show's rep tells OK!, "We are confirming that Britney will have a guest role on the show this season."
Brit's scenes will reportedly be with the show's lead character, Ted. An insider says she will most likely play the role of "Abby", a girl who works in Ted's doctor's office and is described as "sweet and friendly and scattered and a little nerdy--a female Michael Cera."
The last time Britney appeared on television was almost exactly two years ago to the month--back when she was pregnant with little Jayden James. In March, 2006, the singer appeared on NBC's hit comedy, Will and Grace.

K-Fed & Jamie Spears Play Nice

In a move that surprised many onlookers Monday morning, Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline actually shook the hand of his former father-in-law Jamie Spears, as the two met and chatted casually before the latest in a seemingly neverending string of hearings regarding the custody of K-Fed and Britney's two boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James. While Kevin and Jamie have never been the best of buddies, insiders say that the recent decision to allow Brit to see the boys several times a week has eased a little of the tension caused by the nasty divorce and bitter custody war. The pair even reportedly played some golf together over the weekend. However, inside today's custody hearing, the mood was a little less than friendly, as Jamie and Brit's newest legal eagle, divorce diva Stacy Phillips, disputed the sky-high legal bills being presented by both Kevin's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, and Britney's former lawyers at the firm of Trope & Trope.Under court order, Britney is to foot the majority of Kevin's legal bills in the case, which to date total around $500,000. And the folks at Trope are claiming invoices in the area of $600,000. Before the courtroom was shut to reporters, Phillips argued that Kaplan is only due somewhere between $150,000 and $175,000.

Britney Courthouse Update!

Here's the news!Britney Spears will now be receiving a credit/debit card where she can spend $1500... ya know, of her own money. So it's kind of like she's paying herself, out of her own pocket, while her dad Jamie Spears gets $2500/week.
Commissioner Goetz also granted Luce-Forward (Jamie's lawyers) a release of her funds to the tune of $25,000 a month for a new Miami lawyer to deal with her ongoing audit of Jive records.
They've also retained the services of entertainment attorney Tom Hansen, at aseverely reduced rate of $1500 a month. Hansen is also Mel Gibson's lawyer.
Lastly, Andrew Wallet, co-conservator of her estate, asked for more bond money to be released "because of the rapidity of the bills being paid." Commissioner Goetz released $135,000 for now.
Sam Ingham, her court-appointed lawyer said he's made it clear to Brit that she should come to these hearings, and he offered transportation and security but she declined. Ingham said,"I have spoken to my client and she's been inconsistent with her position to attend these hearings. The last word I got today was that she was not coming. I would categorize her as unwilling to appear...she does not object to the proceedings but she does object to who is in the hearing,'' referring to her desire to have Jon Eardley be her lawyer.
Jamie Spears, Andrew Wallet and Geraldine Wyle were all there from Brit's camp.
Lots of stuff going down today! What do you think of Brit having her own credit card now?Source: X17

SPEARS AND FEDERLINE BATTLE OVER LEGAL FEES

BRITNEY SPEARS and KEVIN FEDERLINE's lawyers are battling in court over the former dancer's legal fees from their bitter custody battle. Spears' new lawyer Stacy Phillips is angry Federline's representative and the pop star's former legal firm Trope & Trope have racked up bills of $900,000 (#450,00) in just four months - fees Spears has been ordered to pay herself.
Phillips claims Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan's fees are excessive - and that Federline can afford to pay his fees himself.
She also accuses Federline of failing to separate business and personal expenses, and claims his ex-girlfriend and mother of his other two children, Shar Jackson, has access to his business credit card which she uses for personal purposes.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who is presiding over the case, plans to take time to consider the issue of fees.
Spears and Federline are currently battling over custody of their two sons: Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one. Federline currently has full custody of the kids.

K Fed And Jamie Spears Are Golf Buddies?

This seems a little strange. K Fed and Jamie Spears were seen golfing together in Tarzana CA on Saturday. Seems like an unlikely pair only because of the fact that the two are fighting each other in court. Maybe they're going over some "legal matters." Britney's new lawyer, Stacy Phillips, is actually in court right now arguing the outrageous legal fees that have been stacked up during the custody case. Both Jamie and Kevin are present at the hearing. Stacy is asking the Commissioner to have Britney pay only a portion of K.Fed's attorney fees. By a portion we mean 150-175k instead of the 500k that Mark Vincent Kaplan has billed. Stacy is claiming that K.Fed has the money to pay his own lawyer so Britney should not be liable to pay all the fees.

Brit Wants K-Fed to Pull His Load (insert joke)

The lawyer for the Brit conservatorship is arguing as we speak to slash K-Daddy's legal bills and is asking the judge to make Federleezy pay at least a portion of the bill himself.Stacy Phillips told Commissioner Scott Gordon that Kaplan is entitled to $150,000 -- $175,000 tops -- for his legal bills over the last four months. Kaplan told the Commish he wants between $400,000 and $500,000.The court has already ordered Brit to pay Kevin's "reasonable" attorney's fees. Phillips argued K-Fed is not that hurtin' for cash -- noting he goes to parties and throws around $2,000 tips, spends $20,000 in jewelry and uses his credit card like a motha.Kaplan told the judge he and his partner, Jim Simon, bill around $600 an hour, claiming, "I believe we are under market for the package you get when you hire our firm." Phillips blanched, claiming it was totally unnecessary for both lawyers to attend all the court hearings. The judge just threw reporters out of the courtroom and closed the hearing.Stay tuned ...

Britney/Shakespeare -- Kill Lawyers

In a stunning development, Britney Spears and Bill Shakespeare have something in common -- they both want to kill all the lawyers. The custody case is back in court this morning, and Brit's lawyer will make a frontal attack on the lawyers on both sides of the case. We know the firm that just quit the case -- Trope and Trope -- has billed Brit more than $600,000 in legal fees over the last five months they repped her. And K-Daddy's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, has billed half a mil over the last four months. The court has already ruled Brit has to pay MVK's "reasonable" attorney's fees. We're told it's going to get hot in court. There's been a theory for a long time -- some divorce lawyers use the pain of a split to fleece clients and keep the dispute alive when it should be settled. Whether true or not in this case, we're told that's what Brit's lawyer will argue. One of the points will be that multiple lawyers on both sides have appeared for every hearing and it's just to jack up the bill.Stay tuned ...

Brit Gets Allowance, Too

Who knew Britney still got an allowance? I don’t think even she knew this. Well, a judge ruled today that Jamie Spears, acting as Brit’s conservator, can give her a $1,500/week allowance. Well, it doesn’t have to be an allowance - she’s just going to get a budget to work with. I don’t think Brit’s hurting for money, but putting a limit on her spending is definitely going to help her out in the long run. I know Brit’s been known to have very big shopping sprees, but she’s not against saving a little cash. Hello, she went shopping for shoes at Off Broadway just a few days ago. She knows where to get her deals. Anyway, since Brit’s been spending more time at home, maybe the allowance is just the right amount. I’m sure all of you have your take on this.

Brit's Fox TV Studio Visit

I just got pics of Britney from this morning, as she headed over to Fox Studios. As I said in my earlier post, she is to guest star on the CBS series How I Met Your Mother. She looked like she was in good spirits, doesn’t she? I’m sure she’s excited about getting back on TV. Good times! As her dad and ex, Kevin Federline, were meeting up in court this morning, Brit was on her way to the beginning of her comeback. Yes, that was cheesy and dramatic, but at least these are pics of her heading over to Fox Studios and not to UCLA Medical Center. Double good times.

Brit on TV!

Ooh, this is good news for all Brit fans. Pink Is The New Blog is reporting that Britney will have an upcoming guest role on the CBS series How I Met Your Mother. Sources said Britney and her agent went to the Fox studios this morning to meet with the cast for a read-through. The character could be recurring, so if Brit makes an impression, she may be on your televisions regularly. This type of news is definitely different from what we were reporting about Brit just a month ago. She’s staging her comeback, y’all.

K-Fed Picking Up the Tab?

Um, the jury’s still out on this one. The judge who heard Stacy Phillips (Brit’s new custody attorney) this morning will have think about overturning the ruling that Britney has to pay for Kevin’s legal fees. Phillips highlighted Kevin’s lenient spending and cited examples of such behavior. Both sides made their arguments, but the judge did not make any decisions today. Brit’s legal team is actually just asking that Kevin pay for “some” of his legal fees, which you would think is not too much to ask for. Anyway, the next custody hearing is set for May 6, but there will definitely be more updates regarding this story before then.
