Britney's Dad - His New Powers

When his temporary co-conservatorship over his daughter Britney Spears was extended until July 31, Jamie Spears was also granted new powers, court documents from yesterday's hearing show. In addition to a $58,800 payment to the conservatorship for attorney fees and other costs, Jamie was given weekly payments of $2,500 and the authority to tap his daughter's funds to lease a car for her security team. The pop star also cannot leave California before a scheduled April 7 hearing without permission from the court or from her father. The document also revealed that L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz extended the temporary conservatorship out of concern that an attorney claiming to represent the pop star might again tie the case up in federal court. On Wednesdays, Jon Eardley, an attorney who claims to represent Spears – even though the court has determined her incapable of hiring her own attorney – filed new papers under seal with the federal court. On Feb. 14 Eardley had filed a civil rights challenge to the conservatorship; for almost two weeks the case was in limbo until a federal judge declined to hear it. Jeffrey D. Wexler, Jamie's attorney, tells Goetz in court documents that he believes, based on previous filings by Eardley, that the new papers include an amended petition "to include federal claims involving witness intimidation, victim intimidation." Wexler writes that Goetz on Wednesday still had jurisdiction to extend the conservatorship. A new federal challenge by Eardley might again freeze Goetz's ability to alter the conservatorship, but would likely not undermine any orders already in place.

Judge: Britney's Dad in Control for Four More Months

Jamie Spears will remain in control of his daughter Britney Spears's finances and other aspects of the pop star's life until July 31, a judge ruled Wednesday in an unscheduled hearing. No reporters were present for the proceeedings, although two sources confirm to PEOPLE that Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz extended the temporary conservatorship that had been ordered on Feb. 4, during Spears's second stint in a psychiatric facility. "I can confirm that the order was issued this afternoon, but I don't know the attorneys' motives," Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini tells PEOPLE. The temporary conservatorship had been scheduled to expire March 10. Hearings are still scheduled before Goetz on that date and on March 17, sources say. Jamie Spears has been overseeing his 26-year-old daughter's well-being and her estimated $100 million fortune since Feb. 1, when Goetz named him and Andrew Wallet temporary co-conservators, giving them the right to employ bodyguards and restrict her visitors. A source close to Britney says she's okay with her dad being in control. On Feb. 23, she was allowed to spend time with her sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 17 months, for the first time since her Jan. 3 standoff with the police, and she has had regular visits since. "She is getting along well with her father and enjoying the closeness and support of her family," says a source.

Brit's Conservatorship Extended Through the Summer.

On Wednesday, a court commissioner ruled to keep Jamie Spears on as conservator over the personal and business affars of his daughter, Britney Spears, through July 31.TMZ is reporting the order is effectively a seal of approval for Poppa Spears, who has been co-conservator since Brit's latest breakdown. Sources also say the conservators are open to ending the conservatorship earlier than July 31, if Britney's mental state sufficiently improves and stabilizes. Under the conservatorship, Britney appears to be recovering significantly. She teaches regular dance classes to children, has abandoned her wild and erratic night life and has won back visitation rights with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.Today's news is probably not going over well with Britney's former confidante, Sam Lutfi, who after being served with a restraining order two weeks ago by the conservators, has vowed publically to "fight to the end" to overturn the order and regain his friendship with the pop singer. With all of the positive energy surrounding Britney right now, it's hard not to think that Sam's absence might be a good thing after all. And, by the looks of things, the court seems to agree.

Miss/Guided Promos

Exclusive First Look! Jamie Lynn Spears Gets Miss/GuidedJamie Lynn Spears in Miss/Guided courtesy ABCJamie Lynn Spears may be getting ready for a new arrival and taking the SATs, but she isn't stepping out of TV entirely. The former Zoey 101 star will be guesting on the premiere ep of ABC's Miss/Guided, which kicks off March 20 (8 pm/ET).The new comedy centers on Becky Freeley (Judy Greer), a former uber-awkward teen who's now returning to her alma mater as the school's guidance counselor. In the first episode, Spears will play, appropriately, a student who's gotten good news from a college, but may toss it all aside if it affects her romantic life — which, we all know, can be pretty intense in high school.Judging by this exclusive first photo of JLS' tarted-up character, that romantic life seems to be going well! But man, why does she look so familiar in such an outfit and getting out of the car like that...? Also guesting in the eppy is Ashton Kutcher, playing a substitute Spanish teacher, aka a guapo love interest for Becky. — Anna Dimond

Jamie Lynn Spears Guest Stars on ABC Comedy

Jamie Lynn Spears is coming to primetime.
The pregnant Zoey 101 star will appear in an episode of the ABC comedy, Miss Guided, premiering March 20 (8 p.m. ET). Judy Greer stars in the sitcom, playing a formerly awkward high school student who returns to her alma mater all grown up — and as a guidance counselor. Spears will appear in the premiere episode, called “Hot Sub,” as Mandy Ferner, a troubled student who gets some exciting news from college, according to ABC.
The show will also feature another big guest star: Ashton Kutcher, who executive-produced the sitcom, will play the titular hot sub — a Spanish teacher and a possible romantic interest for Greer’s character.
As a midseason addition to the schedule, Miss Guided was filmed in October after Spears wrapped Zoey 101 — but before the young actress announced her pregnancy.

Justin giving Britney support?

Justin Timberlake has reportedly bee n in touch with ex Britney
Justin Timberlake is reportedly back in touch with his ex Britney Spears.
According to Heat magazine, the former NSync member is back in contact with the songstress after her worried mum Lynne got in touch with him.
A source told the magazine: "Lynne Spears called Justin the day after Britney got out of hospital a few weeks ago.
"Lynne was in tears and begged Justin to help, saying: 'She's ready to make some changes'."
Justin apparently agreed to call Britney for some moral support.
The source continued: "Justin has called her a number of times over the past few weeks and it's really helped her.
"All Justin wants is to see the woman he was once in love with get well again."
Britney is currently involved in a battle with her ex Kevin Federline for visitation rights over her two sons, one-year-old Jayden and Sean, two.
She was refused permission to see her sons on January 3 after a disagreement at her home resulted in her being admitted to a hospital psychiatric ward - but two weeks ago was able to see them for the first time since.

James Blunt thinks Britney Spears is a "phenomenal artist"!

James Blunt thinks Britney Spears is a "phenomenal artist," but too many people are thinking about her panties rather than her singing career. During his sold-out Beacon Theatre show Friday night, Blunt had the crowd guffawing when he commented about "how people are probably wondering if Britney is currently wearing knickers in Los Angeles," between songs. After his show, Blunt told the Daily News that he stands by his defense of Britney's right to venture out sans underpants. "I think when you put the emphasis on her knickers and not on her talent, you lose perspective. It really detracts, as a whole, from things that are really important, like global warming and war," Blunt said. "Sending paparazzi to investigate things like this is useless. We're better than that; we have the power to teach and educate. Let's spend our time on that," the crooner said. At least the man practices what he preaches: he showed a touching video during a song about the upheaval in Kosovo.

Britney Spears Earns Raves as a Dance Teacher

Britney Spears headed back into the dance studio Tuesday night to teach a class of 15 children. And her pint-sized pupils are singing her praises. "I like Britney,” 5-year-old Elissa Bouganim, who has taken three classes with the pop star, tells PEOPLE. “Today, first we were dancing slow, and then faster and faster …. Then we did the fish-move and lots of other fun things." The troubled 26-year-old has become a semi-regular instructor at the Millennium Dance Complex in the past month – as she has settled into an uncharacteristically quiet routine overseen by her dad Jamie. "It's just amazing to watch Britney with the kids," says Elissa's mom, Pam. "Elissa won't stop dancing now, that's all she wants to do. Britney has really inspired her." In fact, Elissa has grown so fond of her new teacher, she even gave Spears a gift during Tuesday's class. "It was a picture of [Peter Pan's] Tinkerbell," she says. "And she gave me a hug." These days, Elissa would be happy if Spears taught all her classes. "Britney is nice," she says. "I want to dance with Britney all the time because it's so much fun."

Britney: Kabbalah One More Time?

Looks like Britney Spears is back to embracing the Material Girl’s faith! The troubled pop tart, 26 — who was raised a Baptist and has since dabbled in everything from Hinduism to Islam — was spotted toting a Kabbalah book yesterday in Hollywood. Through her friendship with Madonna, she first became involved with the controversial Jewish philosophy in 2004. Two years later, she reportedly gave the organization $36,000.But shortly after that donation, Britney apparently had a change of heart (and soul), announcing on her blog, “I no longer study Kabbalah, my baby [Sean Preston] is my religion.”Now that she has lost custody of her two sons, however, maybe Britney's hoping to find an audience in the man upstairs!

Brit's Dad Stays the Boss

Britney Spears' dad, Jamie, will be in charge of her affairs through the summer.
Court public information officer Allan Parachini confirms to PageSix.com that lawyers for Jamie filed an unexpected ex-parte motion in the matter today, and Commissioner Goetz extended the conservatorship through July 31.
Parachini also tells us that the original hearing on the case, scheduled for March 10, is still on the calendar and will take place. Also on the horizon for Brit: a custody hearing (on Monday as well), and a hearing on the temporary restraining order against Sam Lutfi (on March 17).
In addition to extending his conservatorship, PageSix.com has learned that America's busiest dad attended the deposition of Michael Sands today in connection to the custody case.
Sands, a former spokesperson for Kevin Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, currently speaks for Sam Lutfi and Jon Eardley, the attorney who failed in an attempt to get all of Brit's cases moved to federal court.

Jamie Lynn's Nightmare Pregnancy

Is Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy turning into a crisis situation? With mother Lynne Spears out of town taking care of Britney, the 16-year-old turned to the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Southwest Mississippi for help on Friday. According to a family insider, Jamie Lynn is frustrated that her mother is focusing so much of her energy on her older sister. "Jamie Lynn wants her parents to stop babying Britney," the source says. "It is stressful for Lynne and Jamie because they know Britney is in trouble and they want Jamie Lynn to understand it."
But the stress doesn't end there for Jamie Lynn. She has been suffering from extreme bouts of morning sickness, a family insider tells PageSix.com. "Lynne was having her take ginger root for a while, but it has not helped [with the nausea]. Then her doctor had her take pills and she sucks on those pregi-pops," which are a natural morning sickness aid that seem to be helping. Jamie Lynn is also worried about the nearly 20 pounds she's gained since conceiving. "For a lot of women it's not big deal, but for a 16-year-old, it has stressed her out," the source says.
The weight gain is a concern because Jamie Lynn still plans on living out her dream of being the "best female actress alive." Says the source, "She is planning on staying with the baby for the first year while she gets herself back into shape, but after that, she wants to get back to work.” For now, it seems Jamie Lynn is having to plan out her future on her own. The teenager was turned away at the Crisis Pregnancy Center because the facility was not open. "I don't know why Jamie Lynn Spears would come here on a Friday. We're closed," says Jeanine Mote, director of the Crisis Pregnancy Center. The church-funded facility provides counseling for mommies-to-be as well as young women who are considering abortions or giving up their children for adoption. "Jamie Lynn's not in our Mommy and Me program or taking parenting classes with us. I don't know why she would come. She hasn't contacted us about coming here or ever called." The director adds: "She's never made a financial donation or anything like that."

Commish Doesn't Think Brit Nuttier than Ever

Sources tell TMZ the Britney Spears conservatorship was extended not because Brit is on a downhill spiral, but because the court commissioner wants to ensure stability, given all the craziness. As we first reported, Jamie Spears will be in control of Brit and her personal affairs through July 31. The commissioner extended the conservatorship yesterday in a closed hearing. We've learned Brit's mental state was not a factor in extending it. The real concern is that another wacky motion might be filed to derail the conservatorship and the commissioner didn't want some outside lawyer swooping in if the conservatorship were to expire.Sources also tell us Jamie Spears wants to end the conservatorship before July 31 if his daughter's mental state improves. The commish was impressed that things have already stabilized.
