No one is quite sure why, but….
Osama Lutfi has voluntarily agreed to stay away from Britney Spears for at least another month, delaying a hearing that could have made the restraining order against him permanent.
Lutfi and Spears' conservators agreed to have the restraining order extended for 30 days, said an inside source who declined to be named because the agreement had not been formally approved.
A judge is expected to approve it today.
Lufti and BritBrit's people would not comment on this recent development.
"There is an agreement between Sam Lutfi and the conservatorship for the next 30 days," says Lutfi's rep. "Both parties are happy and will continue to work together to further resolve any issues that may have come up in the past."
Britney is doing SO MUCH better now that Shady is out of the picture. We hope he stays gone!

Britney's Dad and K-Fed Buy Restaurant

Kevin Federline is taking a break from being a professional party host to open a restaurant with his ex father in law, Jamie Spears. Brit's dad and her ex have reportedly agreed to take over Mexican restaurant Casa Cordobes in Los Angeles. A source told The Mirror: "The restaurant has been a favorite of Kevin's for a while. He ate there with Britney. Now the owner wants to retire, he really wants to run it. "Kevin and Jamie get along well nowadays and Jamie is keen to get back into the restaurant game. He still works as a private caterer, so he's excited at the chance." Hmm...let's take a wild guess as to who's going to fund this little investment.

Sam Lutfi Agrees to Steer Clear of Britney for One More Month

Britney Spears's former confidante, Sam Lutfi, has agreed to stay away from the singer for an additional month, PEOPLE has learned. The temporary restraining order placed against him last month was set to expire Monday. It appears the deal was struck as a way of warding off a courtroom confrontation with Spears's parents. (The court is expected to approve the extension.) Spears's mother, Lynne, previously accused Lutfi of drugging and verbally abusing her daughter. (Los Angeles police have said they are considering the claims.) Based on evidence presented in court, a restraining order can be extended for up to five years, legal experts say. "In order to have a restraining order dropped, Lutfi would have to convince the judge that all the evidence against him being a threat to the family is wrong," says L.A. family lawyer Scott Weston, who is not involved in the case. Meanwhile, Spears, 26, appears to be getting back on track – thanks, in part, to dad Jamie's controlling influence. She recently filmed a guest appearance on CBS's How I Met Your Mother and is now allowed multiple monitored visits with her two sons – Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1 – each week, says a source close to the case. The source adds that those visits – agreed to by her ex, Kevin Federline, without the court's involvement – would likely increase over time.

Sam Lutfi Agrees to Longer Britney Break

Looks like Sam Lutfi isn't angling to spend spring break with Britney Spears.
The pop star's ex-manager and once-constant companion has agreed to stay away from her for another month per the terms of a temporary restraining order currently in place against him, E! News confirmed Sunday.
So instead of lawyers for the two sides reconvening in court Monday to discuss the Spears family's wish to make the restraining order permanent, a judge is expected to sign off on the extension that will keep Lutfi at least 250 yards away from Britney and her property for another 30 days. The case will be readdressed when that time is up.
A court commissioner granted the restraining order Feb. 1, but Lutfi wasn't served until two weeks later after he managed to duck process servers by holing up in his Los Angeles apartment.
A source also tells E! News that Jamie Spears, who has been overseeing Britney's estate since Feb. 1 and is supposedly keeping close track of who his daughter comes in contact with, has allowed close pal Alli Sims back into the fold—so long as she cut ties with Lutfi, which she apparently agreed to do.
"[Britney and Sims] text all the time," the source said. "Jamie is okay with it."

Lawyer Jon Eardley To Challenge Spears Ruling

Lawyer Jon Eardley who claims he represents Ms Spears has contested a court ruling that allow her father James to control of her assets and estate until July.
Jon Eardley, has filed the appeal with the Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming the singer was not given the required notice as stated by law, when the "conservatorship" was granted, Conservatorship is granted in cases where a person cannot look after their own affairs.
Eardley claims the "five-day notice requirement" was been dispensed without "legitimate grounds", according to the papers presented to the court.
In February a California state court granted a temporary conservatorship order to Britney Spears father James along with lawyer Andrew Wallet.
In previous court filings by telephone Mr Eardley claimed he was employed by Ms Spears , though the federal judge hearing the case said Eardley could not work for the singer because at the time Eardleys claims he was hired, Ms Spears did not have the authority to take him on.
The court stated Mr Spears and Mr Wallet were the only two people who had the authority to employ lawyers on her behalf.
Despite the singer's personal crisis, a third single from her 2007 album, Blackout, is to be released.

Britney’s Surprise Dinner Companion: Mel Gibson

On Saturday Britney Spears started the day with another visit from her sons Preston and Jayden, and ended the evening at a Russian restaurant for a dinner meeting with Mel Gibson. The actor and the pop star – once neighbors in an exclusive Malibu community – were part of a two-hour group dinner at the Romanov restaurant in Studio City on Saturday. "It was exciting to have both of them here together," says one restaurant source. "We heard they hit it off and that Britney seemed excited." Clad in jeans, a green top and boots and chewing gum, Spears arrived at the Romanov restaurant with her friend Victoria. Gibson, accompanied by a few friends, soon joined them in the restaurant's private dining room, which features a 24-karat gold leaf ceiling, an ornate fireplace and a library stocked with such works as Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace. For two hours the group dined on filet mignon and Russian specialties, and drank water and soft drinks. Leaving the restaurant for her Studio City home around 8:15, Spears "looked happy," says an observer, "so it seems the meeting was a success."

Mel Befriends Britney

TMZ has learned Mel Gibson and his family have very privately befriended Britney Spears to help her through her troubles.
The two were at Romanov Restaurant and Lounge in L.A. last night and according to one report they broke bread together. Our sources say Gibson, his wife Robin and their kids reached out to Britney during her darkest days and began seeing her.We're told Mel and Robin feel like they know how tough it is to live in a fishbowl and they think they can help the Britster. There have been private dinners in which Mel, Robin and their brood have hooked up with Brit to give her support. At Romanov's last night, Mel and Brit did not walk in or out together. Looks like Mr. Mel, unlike lots of other celebs, isn't into splashing his good deeds in the media. Nice.

Brit to Sam

We've learned Lutfi and the conservators have avoided the court showdown tomorrow by agreeing to extend the restraining order against Lutfi for 30 days. Under the existing order, which expires tomorrow, Lutfi must stay 2 1/2 football fields away from the Britster and basically have no contact with her at all. The parties have agreed to extend that order.
The Commish will sign off on the extension at the hearing tomorrow.Sources tell TMZ there was a meeting between Lutfi and the conservators last week. Lutfi had been locked and loaded to fight any extension -- so it appears something that happened during that meeting changed his mind.We're told Lutfi believes the restraining order extension is a good thing for both him and Brit.

Britney & Mel Gibson's Dinner Meeting

Early Saturday evening, stashed away in the back of her father's Escalade, Britney Spears snuck out of her gated Studio City community to grab a bite to eat, not with her family or Adnan Ghalib or even — heaven forbid — Sam Lutfi, but with none other than Oscar-winning director, actor and producer Mel Gibson.The pair met for a meal at nearby Romanov Restaurant and Lounge on Ventura Blvd., where they dined on some high-priced Russian eats for around two hours.So what is the connection between these unlikely dinner pals? The most likely culprit is super-powered L.A. attorney Blair Berk, who not only counts Brit's dad Jamie Spears as a client, but who infamously saved Mel from drowning in hot legal water after his 2006 DUI arrest.Could the two have been discussing an upcoming project? "It's unlikely that they were talking about working together on anything specific," an industry insider tells OK!. Privacy, Please

Being Britney Spears is not easy, especially when people break the law just to get a glimpse inside the pop star's life.
A whopping THIRTEEN employees of the UCLA Medical Center have been fired for snooping on Britney's confidential medical records during her stay there earlier this year.
Plus, another six people have been suspended and six doctors face disciplinary action.
So unprofesh!
Employees are only allowed to peruse records if they are directly caring for a patient. Violating that not only goes against the hospital's code of conduct, but its' against the law too.
And, what's worse, the same thing happened to Britney when she gave birth to Small Fry at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica a few years ago.
"It's not only surprising, it's very frustrating and it's very disappointing," said Jeri Simpson, the Santa Monica hospital's director of human resources, who handled the discipline in the first instance.
"I feel like we do everything that we possibly can to ensure the privacy of our patients and I know we feel horrible that it happened again. I don't know what it is about this particular person, I don't know what it is about her."
Sucks for Britney. Shit, that would suck for anyone!

The Spears Report

It has been a crazy week for Britney Spears ... but, at long last, "crazy" in a good way. At the start of the week, I was able to be the first person EVER to report that Britney Spears had signed on to appear in the March 24 episode of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and it was positive mayhem from then on out. Britney then showed up on the FOX Studios lot to prepare for and then film her scenes for the show, which meant that she had to put other obligations on hold in the meantime. Also this week, her new animated music video for her latest single Break the Ice debuted online (albeit to mixed reviews). All in all ... she's had a great week ... and I couldn't be more pleased :) Here are a couple of pretty and new photos of our dear Britney which were shot by photographer Dani Brubaker for OK! magazine:
I can only hope that this positive streak that she is on will continue to move forward and that her life can finally and steadfastly stay on track. Things are looking up for her, I believe that she can keep the ball rolling and keep her life in order. I'm sure it won't be long now before she gets to win back at least some physical custody of her young children.

And speaking of, here are a couple really cute pics of her youngest son, Jayden James, who spent part of his week at The Gym with one of his big buddies:The kid is cute ... you just want to hug him/pinch his cheeks/squeeze him all at once. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for Britters to be kept from her kids but I'm sure she's learning that she needs to take care of her life first before she can be entrusted with taking care of anyone else. Mark my words, Britney will stay on course and will (hopefully one day soon) win back at least a portion of physical custody of her kids.

Britney Pulled Over By Cops: The Whole Story

Britney Spears' day started innocuously enough, as the pop princess stopped by the Beverly Center to pay a visit to Claire's. Hey, fifteen hundred bucks a week can buy you a whole bunch of plastic bracelets!
On the way home from the mall, however, Brit's driver got a little overzealous in his attempts to evade the paps and got flagged down by a cop. Luckily for Britney, those same paps seemed to put the cop on edge when they turned up with their cameras blazing - so he just waved Brit's driver off! Well, that's one way to beat a ticket!

Hospital Fired Up Over Britney

Britney Spears' health has caused a major headache at UCLA Medical Center. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that at least 13 hospital employees are going to be fired and at least six others have been suspended for poking around in the pop star's confidential medical records. Six doctors are facing disciplinary action, as well. "It's not only surprising, it's very frustrating, and it's very disappointing," Jeri Simpson, hospital director of human resources, told the paper. "I feel like we do everything that we possibly can to ensure the privacy of our patients, and I know we feel horrible that it happened again." Echoing the sentiments of many, to be sure, she added, "I don't know what it is about this particular person. I don't know what it is about her." This isn't the first time inquiring minds have wanted to know too much—several people were canned following the birth of Spears' son, Sean Preston, in September 2005, as well. While the most noticeable obstacle to patient privacy was the horde of paparazzi that accompanied Spears and a phalanx of law enforcement to UCLA in the wee hours of Jan. 31, when she was admitted to the hospital's psych ward on a 72-hour hold for evaluation, it turns out it was the staff inside that needed reminding to keep their distance. Spears was released Feb. 6, although doctors originally prescribed 14 days of bed rest. Insiders have said it wasn't Spears' most recent stay that led to the pending disciplinary action, however, but rather a series of confidentiality breaches stemming from previous hospital visits. When Spears was admitted to the facility Jan. 31, officials sent a memo to hospital staffers reminding them of their patient obligations. "Each member of our workforce, which includes our physicians, faculty, employees, volunteers and students, is responsible to ensure that medical information is only accessed as required for treatment, for facilitating payment of a claim, or for supporting our healthcare operations," wrote chief compliance and privacy officer Carole A. Klove in an email obtained by the Times. "We regularly monitor access to patient records, and in the event of an inappropriate access, we will investigate it, and if a violation is found, we will take appropriate action which can include termination," she said. Meanwhile, union representatives are investigating to make sure the employees potentially on the chopping block are treated fairly.Source: E! Online

UCLA to Fire Employees Over Britney Spears

Nice to know UCLA takes patient confidentiality seriously (Cedars needs to take note). UCLA medical center is in the process of firing at least 13 employees and suspending at least another 6 physicians for snooping through Britney Spears' confidential files. "It's not only surprising, it's very frustrating and it's very disappointing," said Jeri Simpson, the Santa Monica hospital's director of human resources. "I feel like we do everything that we possibly can to ensure the privacy of our patients and I know we feel horrible that it happened again." Simpson added that UCLA treats celebrities "all the time and you never hear about this." One little sneak peak could possibly cost 6 doctors their job. Lesson learned: Sometimes temptation isn’t worth it!

Britney's Shopping Spree For Jamie Lynn

What a good big sis! Britney is reportedly picking up the tab on Jamie Lynn's baby's nursery. Brit's already spend $30,000 on decorations for the room, and she's sparing no expense. The nursery for the little one is being designed by Petit Tresor, which is very popular among celebrities these days. It's going to have an ocean theme, with organic bedding and baby blankets.Brit also just splurged on a gigantic custom made six-foot tall elephant that she wants to have sit in the middle of the room. Elephants are more of a jungle theme, no? At least she's trying!
